Alfonso is fondly remembered by anyone who played CM9798, along with many of the 1997-98 Real Betis side; if you wanted you could have paired him up-front with his brother Ivan Perez Munoz. He went on to score over 50 goals for Betis, followed by a relatively unsuccessful spell at Barcelona and a loan to Marseille before returning to Betis to end his career.
He also accumulated 38 caps for Spain, scoring 11 goals. A point of interest is that Getafe named their stadium after him (Coliseum Alfonso Perez) even though he never played for his hometown club.

hey, actually Alfonso was born in Getafe and played for the youth team
I never knew he played for the Getafe youth team, just thought he was born there. Thank you, good to know!
