The Keegan-Burger P07: Can’t Pop That Zit | @KingOfTheRooks

Merry Monday to you. Here’s KOTR with the David Brown fuelled Hamburg experiment…

Willkommen! We’re half-way through season two here in the Keegan-Burger, you can catch up here. We’re way off the pace and there’s no chance we can catch Dortmund in their current form.

Brown opens the 3rd quarter with a man of the match display taking on two opponents, providing an assist and getting on the score sheet. Should he have scored more? Probably.

Also, we signed Croatian U21 Vladislavic as backup given none of our German targets were available. It’s all Brown in the Champions League as we Wardov CSKA:

In the league we are presented with a prime chance to catch up with 2nd placed Bayern and slot into the 2nd Champions League place. Even with 10-men and a 16-year-old grey keeper, Bayern have too much talent for us.

The European exploits get us recognition despite the poor league form.

But we just can’t get it together against Karlshrue.

Is there a more underrated player in CM9798 than David Zitelli?

We might have to make do with UEFA Cup football next season:

We pick things back up against Berlin.

The Fiedler on the roof does well to keep it to two but Brown picks up another injury. There are no more words. Thankfully it’s only a few days.

And Dybek is also back. That said, back for what…it’s the two-month winter break. Nehrbauer turns 21 and his stats go through the roof.

Bayern prize away one of Dortmund’s 5-6 top strikers.

Back in the Champions League, we manage to get to half time with Fenerbache looking like this…

And yet somehow, the game remains 2-2 as Rusty McRusterson has a masterclass in goal and we make no further progress. The group ends well:

To add to my happiness, Bayern crash out. They MIGHT have had a tougher ask…

The draw is as kind as it can be really as they’re all difficult and better opponents.

More annoying activity in front of goal for us:

And to cap it off, Bayern lost so we lose a chance to make ground. WTF is this:

Dominate the game and concede two cheap goals. Next up Dortmund…thankfully they got De Beer’s in meaning we had a chance to score:

We turn our attention on the thought of revenge as we return to play Schalke very quickly.

Big bad brown gets another goal. We could lose and I’d be happy as long as Brown was scoring. And so we have it, the end of the quarter three of the season, we’ve edged 1 point closer to Bayern. Just the 1.

David Brown’s return from injury has coincided with some dodgy form, but I think I’ve settled on Villa over Troche to support him. He’s not doing too bad really.

Still no England U21 call up whilst his German teammates get called up just for breathing. That’s all for this week but do join us again. Auf Wiedersehen!
