Cup Winners Cup9798 – Week 3: Mark Hughes for everyone! | @RossBell__

Welcome back to another week of Cup Winners Cup goodness, its week 3 already, Nath has Covid this week after apparently I spread it via zoom to him last week. Get well soon Nath.

On with the action! First up this week is Barcelona managed by Nick taking on Matt and his Chelsea charges. Frank Sinclair up against Ronaldo, what could go wrong. Ronaldo scores in the first half, of course. Franks mate Jody Morris levels it 4 mins after making his apperance from the bench. A red card for Figo followed quickly by one of the Mark Hughes putting Chelsea 2-1 up before following Phillips advice Pizzi comes off the bench to win it for Barca

Next up this week is Dean with his Man U ’91 squad up against Nath and all his firepower with Lazio ’99, Vieri opens the scoring before Viv Anderson scores an og and its all going well for Nath but then another Mark hughes pulls one back before one of Nath’s CB’s is red carded making for a nervy last 2 mins, but they hold on.

My Parma lads take on Phils Arsenal as I look to pick up my first league win of the season. I’m not confident. 2 nil up soon becomes 2-2 which then becomes 3-2 and 4-2 and then 5-2, a red card changed the game? No not really this Parma team is naff. Kevin Campbell destroyed me, that says it all.

Dave’s Werder Bremen are up against Zak’s PSG lads. A cagey first half is only broken when Nouma breaks the deadlock before a quickfire double from Loko makes it 3 before Dave’s Fu**ing Useless bunch pull oneback. It finishes 3-1 to the absent Zak.

Rob and his surging Zaragoza team battle Andrew and his Sampdoria squad as Andrew looks to pick up his first victory. They take a 2 goal lead which quickly becomes 2-2 before half time, an issue with typing this live is its now 3-2 before HT. It ends 3-3. thankfully giving me time to catch up.

Another game week us upon us and I’m going to be battered again as Im up against Nicks Barcelona team. Its 3-0 before half time before it ends 6-1. I’m 100% going to win the sack race this season.

Deano and Phillip square off next in an all premier league affair as Man U ’91 take on Arsenal ’94 Viv Anderson makes it 2 own goals in 2 games Ian Wright scores for before another Mark Hughes scores again, I swear theres more than 2 of them. 2-2 it finshes.

Rob’s Zaragoza are up against Nath and his lads from Lazio next, Lazio take the victory 2-0 helped a fair bit by a red card to one of Rob’s Centre backs.

The misery doesn’t end as I have to play again this week, this time taking on Matt and his Chelsea team. I’m one down after 2 mins as yep you guessed it Mark Hughes scores yet again. Its a great one for the neutral as its 3-2 at HT it finishes 5-4 after more second half madness.

PSG ’96 up against the ’91 boys from Manchester is next, It’s a quick start as both teams net within the first 20 mins and they do again inside the first 45 as its 2-2 at HT, Mark Robins is a man possessed in this one however as he hammers home a HT. Youri Djorkaeff angling for that big move to Bolton is having none of it as he gets 2 before Loko bags a winner late on, Great game.

Sampdoria v Arsenal feels like a proper 90’s clash and Ian Wright is a proper 90’s Striker he scores a quick double and Kevin Campbell continues his hot start to the seaon as its 3-0 before Half Time. and thats how it finishes.

Zaragoza v Werder Bremen is up next, Esnaider is the top scorer in the league and he carrys that on this game too to make it 1-0 at the break. and thats all she wrote for this one.

Lazio take on Barcelona in what is our final league game of the week and it finishes in a drab 0-0. Literally nothing to note here.

Some cup action to finish this week and our only blogger on blogger action is Chelsea v Werder Bremen. Its somehow 5-0 to Bremen before HT. and that’s how it finishes. Dave’s lads really want to win the cup!

Everyone else makes it through the cup stages with ease.

Thats all for this weeks update a quick look at the league table before we finish and its grim reading for myself defensivly and you’ll notice that yet again Philip is leading the way, Meet the new boss same as the old boss.

Toodles x
