The Last Roman – Part 31: Rome Is Falling | @FMCM_FC

Happy Tuesday all. We are back in Rome. Totti is leading the charge again. Last season we finished 2nd behind a rampant Torino side who blew everyone away. We have a chance in the Champions League again. If we can avoid Barcelona that would be nice. Let’s dive in.

August

Before we kick off just a quick note to say Totti was named European Footballer of the year again and Football Writers player of the year again as well. What a player!

We beat Panathinaikos 6-4 over 2 legs to qualify for the groups. We won 3-1 in Greece before a real blockbuster in Rome finished 3-3. No Barcelona thank god but still a tricky group. We’ve been drawn against Juventus in the 2nd round of the Coppa Italia which is bullshit to be honest!

September

Jam packed September. We make a much better start than last season with 3 wins and a draw. The lose to Cagliari was a pretty poor performance. We get knocked straight out of the Coppa Italia which sums up our performance in the cup for the last few years.

October

A real mixed bag in October. We are 9 points from 9 in the Champions League which is fantastic. Fiorentina are the early leaders and they beat us with ease. Losing to Palermo isn’t good enough. Drawing with Monza isn’t helpful either.

Totti is on fire so far. This hattrick takes him to 10 in 10 in the league.

November

No wins in the league is a shocker. Beating Austria Vienna should see us through in the Champions League. The league is already slipping away from us here. We need to wake up very soon!

December

We are having a bit of a crisis. 3 3-1 losses on the bounce against teams we should be beating is a real concern. We go 1 down against Pescara before finally getting our act together and hitting 4 past them.

January

No wins at all in January. We are in serious danger of being in the relegation places. I’ve sold all my midfielders and brought in some new faces. Hopefully they will help.

February

We can’t even buy a win. Sacking is on the cards. We are 1 point above relegation.

March

March looks good thanks to 2 wins over Auxerre which takes us into the Champions League Semi Final. Only 1 win in the league means we are on the edge of the relegation places.

April

April starts brilliantly with a win in Madrid against Real. We then beat our local rivals Lazio. The loss against Madrid was my fault. It was 1-0 at half time which forced extra time where Madrid drilled in 2 quick goals. I put everyone up front and they add 3 more. 2 games to come in May. We are 3 points above the relegation zone so we need at least 1 win.

May

2 wins see us safe for the this season. Totti getting 3 of the 4 goals stepping up as captain and leader of this team.

Well it’s been an abysmal season to be honest. Getting to the Semi Final of the Champions League was great but domestically it was the worst we’ve ever been. Join me next time for an Italy special as we tackle Euro 2008.
