Hello and welcome back to the 30 for 30 challenge. We enter Season 6 on the back of an immediate promotion back to the Premier League with Coventry. We had 3 and half fantastic years at Morton in Scotland before moving South. We couldn’t keep Coventry up but we have got them back at the first time of asking. So, before we start the new season let’s have a look at the new recruits.

Poch, Sanchez and Molnar bring some much needed experience. Freestone is Matt Le Tissier Jr and Tony Schjonberg is Peter Schmeichel Jr.

August

Steady start to life back in the Prem. I put Schmeichel Jr in far too early and we got pasted by a Zidane inspired Chelsea.

Our only win came against Arsenal who are a shadow of how good they used to be. 1st goals of the season for Lilley and Molnar.

September

Disastrous start to the month with 2 heavy defeats and a League Cup loss. A switch of formation gets us back on track.

A win against last seasons champions was totally unexpected. We definitely rode our luck but we nicked a winner with 7 minutes to go and hung on.

October

Absolutely terrible results in October. The draws just about keeping us out the relegation zone at the moment.

November

Another horror show of a month. I can’t find a tactic with the right balance. Getting beat 6-2 by Boro was an appalling result.

A vital 3 points at home to Wolves keeps our heads above water.

December & January

Another 2 months of beatings. to be fair we played most of the top ten so we never stood a chance.

The only highlight was this win over Arsenal, which isn’t saying much as they are below us. Mikhaylenko gets his first for the club and Rocastle Jr grabs the winner.

February

February is all about the FA Cup as we overcome a replay with Hull and get past Wrexham to give us a Quarter Final against Aston Villa.

This win against QPR in the league saw us move 5 points clear of the drop zone.

March

No wins in March including getting knocked out of the FA Cup. The run in is very difficult. I’m not confident.

April

Two very important wins in April. We beat Ipswich then we have this fantastic result against Blackburn.

Superb performance from Pistone! He’s on hand twice to knock in easy tap ins either side of Lilley’s goal.

May

The 4 teams we play in May are all in the top 6. Leeds go on to win the title. We have a fantastic game with Man Utd but come up short. Then we host Liverpool knowing a win will keep us up.

We put in our best performance of the season. We are 2-0 up at half time after a dominate display is rewarded with goals for Lilley and Wills. Liverpool then bring it back to 2-2 with 20 minutes to go. Up steps Pistone in the 84th minute to turn home Lilley’s corner. Highfield Road explodes!!

We reach the magic 40 point mark which keeps us up. Chelsea and Arsenal getting relegated is a real shock!
