We’ve all made it to episode 10. Double Figures. Amazing.
I’m amazed Bolton still pay my wages quite frankly. I got them relegated and then struggled in the 1st Division. But this year has started better.
We’ve made zero progress, but at least things can’t get any worse… right???

Never thought we would get anything out of Bradford. So Le Tiss’ late goal was an unexpected bonus.
Nothing happened at the City Ground. Dullest 90 for some time. If Burrows went off injured, just for something to do.
Alan Thompson is a wanted man, every couple of months we get a bid that is rejected. This is the type of performance that might make the Prem clubs have a glance. Reading were 4th so this is a big win.
In the play-offs but a stern test. Away at leaders Norwich. Both teams appear to settle for a point, but Izzy has other ideas. We’ve now been in Bolton for 3 years.
The Carlisle keeper (Tiago) was our player for a couple of seasons. He never really featured. He was MoTM today. As expected.
Following the principle that anyone employed by Man United is going to be good. Alex Notman joins for £850k. Sean Friars goes to Swansea for £200k on the same day.
White Rose v Red Rose. Izzy decides it in the first 5 minutes. With Notman behind the main striker we look very good. No champagne corks popping yet. But there is an optimistic mood in Bolton tonight.
Fulham are the better side for all the minutes of the 90, apart from between 61 and 68. Notman scores and then gets taken off on a stretcher. We’ll see him again in two months.
Shaun Gale gets on board from Blackburn. He’ll provide experienced cover on either the left or the right hand side of the defence. Key as Robbie Elliott is out for the next 6 weeks or so. We also signed Paul Barrett on loan from Arsenal, 15 games ago – I’ve been waiting for him to make a solid contribution before introducing him.
Albert Stratford (our Schoolboy graduate) gets injured before we run away from lowly Stockport.
Vale Park in December is a very cold place. I speak from experience. In my experience it was a poor game and we lost 1-0. In this one, it was an equally poor game but we ended victorious. Gift Horses and Mouths spring to mind.
It’s a win that puts us 2nd.
Southampton are rooted to the bottom of the table. It’s all us until we score but they throw everything at us in the 2nd half. We cling on.
West Bromwich Albion must hate us. 7-1 earlier in the season. 5-1 today. A pivotal penalty save from David James before we smash 3 in 8 minutes.
We have a lovely Christmas Day
For 74 minutes this was a very good away performance from Palace. They kept the ball well and took their chance. Then Isiah Rankin got involved.
Is it being super critical to say I’m a little disappointed to only win 1-0? We created sooo many chances. Tom Youngs with the early goal.
Our original Schoolboy “graduates”. 8 games across his nearly 4 seasons.
A rotated side travelled down to Luton for the FA Cup 3rd Round. They proved to be a sticky opponent, and yes, for the one person that’ll notice, it is THE Guinan. Cam Burke makes his first contribution to the side.
A red card (Fish out of Water…) and a goal disallowed (Alex Notman on his return) showed that the officials weren’t on our side, but we escape Devon with a point.
2nd v 3rd at the Reebok. Paul Barrett, our Arsenal loanee, gets the only goal. It puts us 9 clear of the chasing pack.
The last game of this update is a cup tie. Home to 2nd Division Crewe. Rotation the name of the game again. Routine by the end. Cam Burke loves the FA Cup.
An unbeaten update. Wow. From the time of writing this, to you reading, is about 8 weeks (#liftingthelidonthemagic) so I will probably have forgotten this winning feeling by then.
We are very well placed. Trotting back to the Prem? You’ll find out next week
