There’s a feeling of positivity around the place. The last update was an unbeaten run. We are 9 points clear of 3rd place with 15 league matches to go. This will either be a glorious piece that ends in an orgy of self congratulation and Premier League football, or one of the biggest bottle jobs since Kevin Keegan told the world he would love it.

The curse, remember the curse.

This felt like it could have been one of “those” games, but our Chilean popped up late for a winner.

Goals just before and just after half time make this a rather pleasant afternoon.

It’s effectively 2 from 4. Our next league match is Barnsley.

Subs change games. A giant killing. Premier League Middlesbrough throw away a lead and we are into the Quarter Final of the FA Cup. Cam Burke has scored in every round. This was also a record attendance.

Winner wins the league. Barnsley score early and we fight the good fight in the first half but are unable to score. We never get going in the 2nd and it’s our first defeat since September.

Nervy. We almost won it but Panic Byee scored late.

We had a game in hand. It was tonight, we absolutely battered Ipswich and I was extremely worried of a late equaliser but we held on. Notman and Rankin both netting. Both also missed a hatful of chances.

Quarter Final time. Everton prove too strong for us. We are not bothered too much by this fact. Norwich (3rd) drew so we are 5 clear with a game in hand now. Barnsley are all but Champions.

Bart Griemink is MoTM, but that’s standard when we play Birmingham. We beat him twice (actually thrice but the flag meant the stress levels remained high). This feels a big win.

Our game in hand. Nervy first 45, outstanding second 45. The gap is 8 with 27 more points left on the table.

Alex Notman has felt like the difference. He’s given us so much more than this league can cope with. A double against Burnley.

Norwich drew. 10 clear.

A busy transfer deadline day. No incomings as I am happy with what we had, but out goes Les Bright (a Schoolboy) to Aston Villa for £1.8m – he had a big club release clause so we had no hope, Jamie Pollock to Crewe for £525k and Dean Holdsworth on loan to Scunthorpe.

We can’t find a way to score past Hull. But they don’t score either. The point puts us top though!

Osorio is a fiery Chilean. He’s already been suspended more times than an acrobat at the circus, this sending off will mean he misses 5 more games.

Norwich lose, so we need 7 more points from the last 6 matches.

Happy Easter. Reading are dispatched. We are so nearly there now. Norwich drew so victory in our next match means we are back in the big time. We play Norwich…

Any stresses or worries are smashed out within the opening 15 minutes. We are back boys. BACK.

A few alcoholic beverages may have been drank between the end of the Norwich game and the start of the Carlisle one.

Quintessential game of two halves. Huddersfield should be several ahead at half time, but the door is left ajar. We score 5 in the 2nd half. Two get chalked off.

Goals at the end of each half give us a victory we don’t really deserve.

Barnsley draw so we are all but Champions. It needs a 29 goal swing in goal difference, and for us to lose and Barnsley to win.

Paul Barrett gets the party started and we never looked back. 100 points as well.

Our spine. Our beautiful spine. Osorio and Notman (AMCs), Hitoto and Barrett (MCs), Bilic and Fish (CDs), all had outstanding seasons. Isiah Rankin with 36 goals, Osorio (14), and Thompson (13).

Burke, Welsh and Stratford are all former Schoolboys so the “Class of 92” idea is going from strength to strength. David James only averaged a 6.53 but this is partly because there were a lot of games when he didn’t have to do much (so got a 5 or a 6). He made some huge contributions.

A critical eye on next season. The squad is better than what came down. We lose Holdsworth (finally) and I need to get Henchoz off the wage bill too. Sellars is a likely candidate to retire, and Le Tiss might go as well.

Hopefully we are good enough to stay up. But we need to strengthen.
