The CM9798 Challenge League: Part 5

Hello, bonjour, hola…welcome to challenge 5! Or maybe that should be croeso i her 5, unless Google translate has lied to me. More on that later.

It’s fair to say Betis was fun for a lot of you, despite the financial bastardry we forced upon you. Some very impressive scores were posted and the league update later on will show just how well some of you did. What about this week then?

St David’s day is coming soon and in honour of our Welsh friends, you’re going to get to know the Welsh national player pool quite well.

  • Resign as Real Betis manager
  • Resign as national team manager
  • Add new manager as any French Ligue 1 club
  • Add new manager as Wales manager (you will have to check who the manager is as poor Bobby Gould will be long gone)
  • Proceed with the end of season update to season 2.

Points are up for grabs for the following:

  • You are only permitted to sign players who are nationality Wales. Signing anybody outside of this (-500 points)
  • Top scorer as at January 1st 1999 to be Welsh (+200 points)
  • Number of goals by top Welsh scorer (+ number of goals)
  • Getting sacked (-500 points)
  • Top of the table on 1/1/99 (+100 points, -25 for every position off the top)
  • Every Euro 2000 qualifying win (+50 points)

Screenshots needed:

  • League table on 1/1/1999 (or as near as possible)
  • Goals scored list from squad screen
  • Transfers In page
  • Wales’ Euro 2000 qualifying table

Will you go for a big side and risk the sack? Or play it safe and accumulate points in other ways. There are no rewards available for progressing in the European or domestic cups but they are extra games for your Welsh lads to fill their boots.

League Table Update

We have a new leader! Former table topper Ashley hasn’t submitted for Challenge 4 so James takes over at the top. Paul and DDP round off the top 3. James’ lead is mighty but with more big points swings possible, we are a long way from deciding who takes home the Surprise Shirts shirt.

The best of the rest, there are a number of managers who have yet to submit (and some who have submitted since the deadline passed). As ever, if I’ve missed you off just let me know. My kids have been unwell all week so I’m running on fumes and monster munch, but I mean well.

Good luck to you all and see you next week for the final challenge.
