Team GB – Head to Head. Part 4: Deano January – May | @Emsonite

Happy Monday to you all! Not really, I hate Mondays.

If you’ve just joined us me and my brother are doing a head to head to see who can do the best in one season with our own 97/98 Team GB squads in Serie A.

I’m currently ahead of Darren at the halfway stage, but that can all change.

My boys are currently doing okay. 2nd in the league and into the CL Quarters. We’re out of the Coppa Italia though.

We kick off the New Year with a gift from Sampdoria. The game was won in the first half and we made a load of changes which let them back into the game.

Bologna 1 – 1 Team GB (Andersson; Speed)

Pegged back twice vs Parma.

We’re top by 2 points.

Brescia 0 – 0 Team GB

No win in 3. 2nd now on goal difference.

Big win vs Milan. Hendry gets injured meaning I have to bring on Goram for my Scottish player. Pearce comes on as well, and we see out the win.

Fortunately Hendry is only out for a week.

Another 3-0 win this time at Lazio. Lennon goes off injured so Fitzgerald comes on for Norn Iron.. and he scores. Hero!

Lennon is out for a couple of weeks so Fitzgerald will have to play a few games from the start with Gillespie on the bench.

Team GB 1 – 0 Udinese (Butt)

Team GB 0 – 1 Napoli (Rossitto)

Fiorentina 0 – 0 Team GB

The goals have dried up lately which isn’t good news. Fortunately Big Bad Bari rock up for a hiding.

Man Utd up next in the QF of the Champions League. We’vre got most of their good players so no excuses if I lose this. And so it is, two current and one future Utd player get the goals. Fuck em.

Lecce 2 – 5 Team GB (Stroppa, Palmeiri; Speed 2, Fowler, Sherigham, Scholes)

Lennon is out for 6 weeks. That’s a blow.

Fitzgerald needs to grow up fast.

Team GB 1 – 1 Bologna (Owen; Bonomi)

No way past the Great Dane in the 2nd leg vs Man Utd. But we’re through.

Would have preferred Lisbon but it’s Madrid in the Semi’s.

Decent point at Inter with Fitzgerald stepping up. It might not be enough though with Juve already 3 points ahead with a superior goal difference.

Champions League Semi Final. We stink the London Stadium out as Real wipe the floor with us.

Team GB 0 – 0 Roma

That draw all but concedes the title. Neil Lennon’s injury has really hit us hard.

Last chance saloon with Juve 4 points ahead. We need to win at their ground to stand any chance. Lennon is back and only 79% fitness, but he has to play.

It’s a hell of a task. And one we fail miserably.

It’s all about hanging on for 2nd place now with Milan and Bologna breathing down our necks.

Before that we need another miracle away to Real Madrid.

We have a great game but it’s not enough. Brexit.

3 games left in the league. Juventus are already champions.

Team GB 1 -1 Empoli (Owen; Kavelashvilli)

Eventful game at Vicenza, but we hold out for a win.

Fortunately Milan lose.

We’re on 68 points, Milan 67, Bologna 66 going into the last game.

We play Atalanta in our last game of the challenge. And it’s a comfortable win. Even had the luxury of giving Fitz and Staurt Pearce a run out to say their farewells.

So 2nd place is not too bad. Juve and Peruzzi the immovable force.

Here’s the player stats if anyone is interested.

Robbie Fowler can be added to the Frauds XI.

Keiran has dropped out. Too busy Snap Chatting & Tik Tokking.

Here’s my final score.
