A Royale Mess – A Blog Squad Tale | Part Two: Brann Flakes | @KingOfTheRooks

Hallo, hej, hello! Welcome back to our Blog Squad spin-off where we all prove how terrible we really are at this game and one of us lucks out with a fantastic side. It’s the opening night and we’ll get through two rounds of games, the first being the Coca-Cola Cup and then the first round of league fixtures. As Mr Black would say, lets football.

It’s a sunny day in August and first up its Phil vs. Zak. The battle of the ssons and the sens. In the end the ssons come out on top with a late winner in extra time.

Next up its Ross who is already pissed on with his team’s lack of pace up top. It’s nice to get the excuses in early Ross. As it goes, Forfar went off the boil and Ross cruised to victory with the big Dag getting a brace.

I was next up with Kobenhavn and sheepishly (pish yes) made it through on penalties after failing to put about 20+ chances anywhere near the net.

Deano was Brechin in his team and it looks like a masterstroke pulling Bye-Andersen in the big player raffle. The rest of us will by hoping he has a stroke.

In the second blog on blog match Nick’s OB had the daunting task of taking on Rob’s team full of rizz. Nick was cooked as Magnus went in for the Kihl.

Nathan rounded up our cup games in style. Nathan has a small squad but its packed full of talent. Conceding 3 goals to a right back from Stranraer might be worrying though.

And with that our first set of fixtures was done and Ray Stubbs wrapped it up from the teleprompter. Pools panel verdict? Shite.

This is where it all gets real however, the first round of blog on blog action for the title. Mind, its just as well we’re having a transfer window in October.

A lovely set of big fixtures. Off we go.

First up its Matt at home to Ross. Unfortunately for Matt his first choice ‘keeper is already injured to Asper would have to do. After slagging his forwards off, they come to Ross’s rescue and seal three points.

Next up it was Dave and Phil. Dave pleaded with the board mid game to let him resign but they said no.

Next up Zak at home to myself. With 5 ‘keepers and almost no midfield players for Zak, I was feeling confident, and how wrong that immediately felt. In the second half Todi came out of the hole and scored the winner.

Nick had his league debut at home to Deano. Ekstrom’s 8 for finishing, 8 for positioning and 8 for off-ball was just too much for OB. Erik Bo Andersen off the bench to claim a consolatory goal.

Last but by no means least it was Rob vs. Nathan. Two of the most powered squads going head-to-head. 1,889 people were treat to an absolute blinder of a game. Kihlberg with his second hattrick in a row.

It is looking highly likely 9 of us will be playing for second place!

And with that our first call into the Blog Squad League is over. We’ll try and get some views of tactics up in the coming weeks and spotlights on some of the performing players, so you get a view of these.

Adjo, farvel and goodbye until next time!
