18. A-Z of Football – Darlington (01/02) – Darlo Delight

And we are back! It is the beginning of April, and I am just wanting consolidation this season. I want to stay in Division 3, to give us a better chance of winning the league, However, I am not going to throw any games. If we get promoted through the playoffs, so be it. I won’t be classing the playoffs as a trophy if it does happen, we continue away at Wrexham who are in 9th. We are up to 12th ourselves

17. A-Z of Football – Darlington (01/02) – Darlo Disaster

Liam’s A-Z game has seen him arrive at Darlington but my that’s a tempting job offer…

So the last update wasn’t great at all, a poor run of form and a large overhaul, as well as cycling through tactics. I just can’t quite get that wining mentality that I had at the other clubs. It is now evident I will be spending next season here. Our first game will be in the FA Cup third round against Swansea. Will be good to get a little run going from here. Will it work?

Nope. We move on. How do we get out of this? Signing more players

16. A-Z of Football – Darlington (01/02) – Darlington Angel

So, where were we? Liavinco is back with the A-Z story and he’s got a D job, but where? Over to Liam…

The worst out of the 4 clubs but here we are, Division 3 Darlington. They did finish in 6th last season so there is a chance to win the league, however, 11 games in and we are in 16th. The squad needs an overhaul, due to a lack of players available.

David Batty is here though, so that will be fun! Somehow, Darlington has £4.4mil in the bank! Putting that into perspective, Chelsea had £0. That gives me a lot more freedom in the market, but I will still be hunting for bargains as always.

15. A-Z of Football – ??? (01/02) – DDDelightful

Liam’s A-Z Challenge saw him conquer C last time so now it’s time to wait for a D. It’s the last in the series for a few weeks but where will he be resuming?

Right, it is time to move on to the letter D. It is going to be one hell of a struggle though with only 4 teams beginning with D. They are;

Darlington

Deportivo

Derby

Doncaster

12. A-Z of Football – Chelsea (00/01) – Under the Bridge

Liam left us last time waiting for a job at C to appear and as if by magic, it has. Blue is the colour…

That’s right. The job offer comes from my supported clubs rivals. A team I would usually say no to, but putting grudges aside for the story, it wasn’t one I could turn down. Bryan Robson leaves 3rd place Chelsea to take over at 7th place Newcastle. A large squad, but a lot of deadwood to be moved on.

11. A-Z of Football – ??? (00/01) – A sailor went to C C C

Liavinco is back with the A-Z challenge. Now he’s won the league with Brescia, where will he be off to next? Or will he stay put?

Last update we won the league with Brescia, meaning I am free to leave to a C team. Again – I decide to resign at the beginning of the season to give me the best chance to move elsewhere, also means that the game will run a little bit faster.

This gap also gives us more chance to see what happens around the world of football, especially with the Euro’s just around the corner.

10. A-Z of Football – Brescia (99/00) – The impossible possible?

So we are back for the final conclusion to this outstanding season. At points, it looked probable that we would get promoted without winning the league, which meant managing Brescia for a 3rd season, and possibly more in Serie A. However, things took a turn as Cagliari have lost their amazing form, and have lost a few in a row. The gap is now 4 points, with 9 games remaining. My only wish is that the transfer window was open a lot longer than it has been! Playing with only 1 EU CB was hard work, as I have had to waste a Non EU slot on that position. Our first game is at home to Salernitana, who are flying high in 6th. We just have to match Cagliari or better

9. A-Z of Football – Brescia (99/00) – Spring Cleaning

1st of January is with us, and we left off in 2nd place in the league. Things could be better, as we are currently 8 points off 1st, and the chance to move onto another part of the challenge. The “C” clubs could prove easier to get than the B clubs, although both letters have 18 teams available. David “I can’t get any names right” Pleat finds himself a new role;

8. A-Z of Football – Brescia (99/00) – Christmas Presence

So we start off October sitting quite pretty at 4th Position. However, if I wanted to proceed with this challenge, it is a league I would need to win before I can move on. There are obviously cup competitions, but being in Serie B, I am already out thanks to a terrible cup draw!

It starts as somewhat of a boring period. Not many managerial changes, no big transfers, just general matches. Our form starts off poor and I am starting to wonder what it is that is going wrong? The team looks very strong, they just aren’t playing like it.
