Goooooood morning! Welcome back to France, where 2000 is rapidly heading towards 2001 and the Ligue 1 season is just about out of the traps. We’ve somehow seen off Monaco to keep ourselves in the league cup whilst enjoying a European adventure to some of Europe’s most glamorous locations across Wales, Ukraine and Moldova. The league is settling down and here’s where we rejoin:
Crikey, part 11 already. We’ve had three seasons in France and after an initial slow start, FC Mulhouse Sud-Alsace are now playing European football. Or at least we will be if we can make it through the preliminary round against…Cwmbran Town. What a treat that will be.
A bigger worry is…who will be left in the squad by then?
Hello/Bonjour/Good day! Welcome to the final update of season 3, where Mulhouse are closing in on securing European football in their first season in the top flight. Nobody likes us but the group of misfits we have seem to be doing just fine. Here’s where we pick up the madness, although we are out of both cups (damn you Strasbourg):

Taking over the worst team in Ligue 2 seemed like a good challenge and here we are, two and a bit seasons later in Ligue 1 and in the top half no less. Bonjour! Welcome to Thursday, the new home of Mulhouse. After two seasons in the second tier of French football, today we start season 3 in the top tier. That sounds like it should be a good thing but there may be trouble ahead. For starters, we’re still the least desirable club to join in the world. I don’t know why, maybe Mulhouse was twinned with Sunderland or something but either way, I hope our stars of Ligue 2 can step up as there’s no help on the way. Good day! It’s the final update of season two so you know things are about to get serious. FC Mulhouse Sud – Alsace are having a good run despite their silly name. Promotion is on the cards and if we can just maintain our 7 point advantage over the next 15 weeks, we’ll be in Ligue 1 next season. Here’s the situation as we pick it up:
Welcome! Season 2 is in full flow here in eastern France as Mulhouse look to make a move towards Ligue 1. Things got off to a bit of a ropey start last week as we kicked season two off, but events seem steadier now and we’re only looking up. Here’s a reminder of how the table looks in November 1998:
Bonjour! Welcome to season two. In season one, we were so close to everything coming up Mulhouse. Statistically the worst team in French Ligue 2, we overcame a tricky start to go flying up the league and give ourselves an outside chance of promotion. Then it all went tits up and we failed. How do we bounce back? Well, I’ve vowed to solve our dodgy defence and with Sritong-In and Vareille sticking around to score the goals, finding a goalkeeper who doesn’t have crisp packets for hands should be the key to success. Let’s get into season two.
Bonjour! Part 3 felt like a really important time for Mulhouse. This was a wonderful run of form that saw us move up to 7th, just six points from 3rd and an unlikely promotion. With 12 games to go, it’s possible rather than probable. Then again, we are the league’s top scorers. Let’s capture the dream.
Bonjour! Welcome back to France. I took over the worst club in France Ligue 2 and expected to be a hero by now. Instead, we languish in mid table unable to defend. The squad is also bloated, full of my questionable signings and players who can’t be shifted.
