Bottom’s Up – Part 14: Invincible | @FMCM_FC

Good Tuesday to you. Here’s Nathan and his Paloma Faith tribute…

Tuesday again and everything is upside down. We are flying in Division 1 with a 16 point lead. 2 cups in the bag and an FA Cup replay to get through as well as a Cup Winners Cup Quarter Final. So let’s get straight to it.

First up is our Cup replay and it’s a struggle until the 69th minute when Johansson smashes home a mis kick from close range. Van Vossen then doubles our lead from another rebound. Charlie Miller then grabs our third. It’s a cunning end to the game though as James Cunning gets a late consolation for East Fife.

Celtic with a comedy signing here.

Back to league action and we give Stranraer a pasting. The highlight being Cavaco scoring a hattrick all from Bakayoko rebounded shots. I was considering dropping Robbiati but he pops up with a goal. Sorensen gets a rare goal from a corner and Bakayoko did manage to get one shot past the keeper.

CWC Quarter Final time and we cannot find a way past Andrius Zalys in the Bratislava goal. Bakayoko has the best chance when his own blocked shot falls for him but he skies his effort over the bar.

Another cup quarter final, this time in the FA Cup. Bjorklund gives us the lead by running unopposed into the box and slotting it under Porter. A mistake at the back allows Cavaco a clean run on goal and he makes no mistake with his one on one. Negri wraps it up with a close range volley.

Not our greatest performance if truth be told. Negri gets the winner straight after halftime. Vinni heads a corner on to the post and Negri is free in the box to tap home into the empty net.

Two goals in each half secure the three points here. Negri breaks through the defence and megs the keeper on the stroke of halftime to open the scoring. Bakayoko scores in similar fashion on the hour mark.

Fantastic result in Europe as we progress to the CWC Semi Finals. Negri gets us off to the perfect start with a curling effort after 16 minutes. Thern then trips Glonek in the box to give away a penalty which Glonek converts. Negri restores our lead just before half time and Bakayoko seals the win just after half time.

Our reward is a trip to Madrid!

2 goals a piece for both strikers make this a comfortable win at Ibrox. Sorensen is pushed over in the box at a corner and the ref awards a penalty. Negri converts the penalty. He grabs a 2nd just 10 minutes later. Iain Stewart then breaks our offside trap to get one back for Inverness. In the second half Bakayoko grabs 2 in 5 minutes to take the fight out of them.

We give Celtic a mauling in the Old Firm Derby. Laudrup opens the scoring before setting up Negri. Bakayoko makes is 3-0 before Celtic give us a laugh when Peter Kaye scores. Robbiati twice breaks free down the right in the 2nd half and scores two beauties to make it a 5-1 drubbing.

The second team get a run as we have Real Madrid next and they batter a poor Alloa side. We are 5-0 up in the first half thanks to 2 well placed shots from Van Vossen, a screamer for Charlie Miller and a rebound for Fitzy and Albertz. Browning grabs a goal back for Alloa but Johansson grabs a sixth to rub salt into the wound.

We get battered by Real in the CWC Semi Final. They go 2 up in 8 minutes thanks to Cadete and Mijatovic. Bakayoko has a goal chalked off before Cavaco makes it 2-1. Martins then makes it 3-1 but Laudrup drag us back into it for 3-2. Cadete grabs his second and we have our 2nd goal disallowed before Mijatovic hits a stunning 30 yard howitzer to seal the 5-2 win.

We take out our European disappointment and frustration on Raith. Bakayoko opens the scoring and three minutes later Negri grabs a goal. In the second half both wing backs find themselves in the box and both grab a goal. Bakayoko grabs a 2nd goal and Pape Silva grabs a late consolation goal for Raith.

That win wraps up the title for us. We are finally back in the Scottish Premier League! We have a 7 games left in the league which i’ll round up at the end.

We are going back to Hampden after beating Dundee in the FA Cup Semi Final. Robbiati plays a ball over the top which Negri latches onto and fires past Bartram. We have to wait until the 84th minute for Laudrup to to hit home a rebound and seal our spot in the final.

We beat Brechin 4-2 in the league. 2 for Van Vossen and 1 a piece for Charlie Miller and Fitzy.

This is a magnificent result although not enough to see us through. Negri scores after two minutes and the dream is well and truly alive. Unfortunately Contreras brings his A game and doesn’t allow anything else to get past him. We’ve had a cracking run and have no shame losing to Real Madrid over 2 legs.

Here is a round up of the last League Games.

We finish the season as Invincibles! the points and goals scored is a bit of a joke to be honest. Just the Cup Final to go.

That’s the clean sweep domestically all done. We batter Hearts but have to wait until extra time before our captain, talisman and hero Negri wins it for us. That’s the League, FA Cup, League Cup and League Challenge Cup all won.

Some truly unbelievable numbers from Bakayoko and Negri this season.

Clydebank win another Premier League title.

In England Boro storm to the Premier League title.

Man Utd and Newcastle will once again be in the top division next season. Liverpool face a tricky Playoff route.

Coventry beat Arsenal 4-0 to lift the League Cup and Liverpool beat Preston 1-0 to lift the FA Cup.

In Italy it’s back to Serie A for the top 4.

Inter win the league and the Coppa Italia to complete a great season for them.

Turns out there won’t be an Old Firm Derby in the Premier League next season as Albion Rovers win the Promotion/Relegation playoff!!

So that’s another season done. We have finally reached the Premier League. Join me next time to see if we have new signings to assist our charge and see if we can have another crack at the CWC. Until then, Bottoms Up Champers!
