Good morning and welcome to Nath Tuesday. Every Tuesday is Nath Tuesday. The Benidorm save is starting to spice up, what does September have in store?
Hello and welcome back to Benidorm. In the last update we managed to get a team together thanks to new super-agent Saul. We knocked out a La Liga team to reach the next round of the Copa Del Rey & we found one of our star players in Cafe Benidorm dressed as a baby. Let’s check out how it’s going since then.
September
It’s been a few days since Pete and I plastered the training complex with videos and pictures of Kirkby in his baby outfit. He’s still getting Nappies and dummies shoved into his locker but he’s playing up to it massively. There is a good buzz around the club at the moment.
That good buzz is showing on the pitch. The link up between Kirkby and Micky is brilliant at the moment. Tom has been a dream signing for us and he’s finding his feet, and the goal, quickly. A lapse of concentration leads to Albacete’s equaliser.
Back at the training ground I’m checking emails and see that I have an email from Celtic and an email from Brian. Celtic want Kirkby for £4.7 million which is a massive offer. Brian has seen it and his email says it my choice. I tell our club secretary to politely decline the offer. Brian has said he’s in town for the next home game and wants to go out after. I head out to training where Pete is absolutely roasting the lads. Kirkby looks like he’s about to pass out but that’s nothing new.
Such a frustrating result. The Alaves goalkeeper was like a prime Lev Yashin! Kirkby didn’t have the best game. He took a kick early on and spent the rest of the game trying to get his revenge instead of concentrating on the game. He storms off as soon as he gets off the bus back in Benidorm.
We are not happy with this result. Emery has a “Good Ebening” scoring in the very first minute. Micky then breaks free and scores but it’s ruled out for offside. He didn’t look it! Tom Youngs grabs the equaliser, but we go in at half time behind conceding just before the whistle. Tensions are high and I tell the lads to use that tension. We boss the half and Youngs equalises again. The ground is packed and the noise is on another level. We go chasing a winner and get caught on the break in the 88th minute. It’s a sickener. Then Mickey scores in the 90th minute. It feels like the whole place is levitating! Pete pulls me back pointing at the ref. He’s disallowed it. Denny goes flying in on the ref demanding to know why. he just waves everyone away. Then the whistle goes and both teams go flying in, benches and staff as well. It takes a good 10 minutes to get everyone split up and back in the dressing room. Denny is smashing anything he can get hold of. We finally calm everyone down and tell them we have to let this one go. Inside I want to smash the room up with Denny.
In the all the drama I’ve lost Kirkby. He’s nowhere to be seen. Next thing the ref comes storming in yelling in the fastest Spanish I’ve ever heard. I’ve not got a clue what he’s on about. He takes me outside gesticulating like crazy. Luckily Brian appears and starts speaking in fluent Spanish to the referee. I see the problem immediately.
When the car and the ref are finally picked up Brian and I head back into the boardroom at the ground. He pours us two large whiskeys and explains the ref thought it was our fans. Brian managed to pay him off and pay for the pickup and the cost of replacing the tyre so he wouldn’t go to the police and the league. As Brian is talking i see a flash of light in the car park. Someone is running off with those LED light up trainers on, flashing like a bloody rainbow. Kirkby had a pair on the last time he was in the gym. Moonwalking like a prat around the others. I can’t help but smile as the lights fade away.
Denny has been a man possessed since the injustice of the last game. In training he was a step ahead of everyone. He’s been on everyone’s back in training and backs it up in the game. Two towering headers either side of half time cap a true captains performance.
We end the month with a fantastic away win against promotion rivals Leganes. Kirkby is on fire in midfield and with Tom Youngs knocking in the chances created we’ve always got a chance.
That’s it for this update. Join me next for more drama with this squad. We have a transfer request and festivals to get through. Before I go, a look at the league table.
It’s looking good for now!
