30 For 30 – Season 5: Bounce Back Ability | @FMCM_FC

Hello and welcome back to the 30 season challenge. Here is a quick review of what has happened so far. Season 1 saw us arrive at Morton and storm to the Division 1 Scottish title. Season 2 we had a ball in the Scottish Prem finishing 4th. Season 3 was a nightmare and we survived by the skin of our teeth. Season 4 was going the same way until we moved to Coventry. We got relegated anyway with Coventry so this season will be all about getting promoted back to the Premier League.

4 youngsters, all regens – Wayne Wills (Steve Bould), Adam Gascoigne (David Rocastle), Dennis Stevens (Teddy Sheringham), Dwayne Jewell (Paul Gascoigne). Let’s see how they settle in.

August

Tough start but good wins against Palace & Huddersfield.

Gazza Jr gets his first pro goal. Jefferson has been fantastic so far. A gem of a find.

September

Just the 8 games in September. Including getting knocked out the League Cup on penalties to Port Vale. We are still struggling for goals as well.

Derek Lilley doing his best but he needs help!

October

Only 1 loss in October which is a great turn around for us. We currently sit 3rd in the table.

Top performance of the month comes against Notts Forest. We had to dig deep and show some guts and we did with a late winner!

November

4 games and only 1 loss. Birmingham are top so the draw is a good result. Barnsley are in the playoffs and blow us away in the first half leaving us too much to do in the second half.

December

Only the one loss in December. We pick up good wins against West Ham & Crystal Palace.

Our best performance came against Norwich. Derek Lilley is on fire this season and has already broken the most goals in a season record with 17. Caballero & Rocastle Jr (Gascoigne) cutting in from the wings to help out.

January

January is domianted by the FA Cup which we bow out of in round 4 against Premier League Sheff Weds. Our former Morton player Darren Fitzgerald with both goals.

This a good result at home. Derek Lilley was superb as always and Gazza Jr added a 2nd.

February

An unbeaten month in February sees us keep pace with the top two.

Game of the month is this win against Spurs. They are really struggling down in 19th. Lilley continues his fine goal scoring form. Berkovic scores his first of the season standing in for Gazza Jr.

March

3 decent wins but 2 crushing defeats. the defeat against Port Vale is particularly disappointing.

Our most dramatic win comes against Burnley. Rocastle Jr with a stoppage time winner after a massive scramble in the box.

April

We have a terrible start to the month with a draw against Charlton and a battering off Fulham. We then switch it on with 3 wins in a row.

This is a massive win as it moves us into 2nd with 2 games to go. We were in control throughout and Lilley adds another goal to his tally. 2 games to go. Can we keep hold of 2nd and get automatic promotion?

Yes! Promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking! The rebuild begins now. Join me next time to see how we get on back in the big time!
