The CM9798 Challenge League: Part 3

Good morning and welcome to Challenge 3! Well done to you if you came through challenge 2 with a positive score, it turned out to be unintentionally difficult by the bottom clubs in Serie A being disastrously bad. People were having to take over teams with single digits for points and in some cases, goals. Either way, that was a tough challenge, so this time around we’ll have more fun.

In a classic twist, you’re going to need to start a new game. Please follow this carefully as the next two challenges at least will take place on this save.

  • Start a new game loading England, Spain and France
  • Take over at Real Betis (Spain)
  • You are to play 19 league games, which should take you to mid January 1998.
  • Every league point you earn is added to your score (+ League points total after 19 games)
  • Every player who scores 20+ goals for you (+100 points)
  • Every player who scores 10+ goals for you (+50 points)
  • A player will only score points based on their end total eg a player with 21 goals will score you 100 points, not 150.
  • Reach the Quarter Finals of the Cup Winners Cup (+50 Success, -50 Fail)
  • Top the table after 19 games (+100 points)
  • Every position off the top (-5 points)
  • You can buy as many players as you want but for every player you buy, you must also sell a player. Releasing a player does not count as a sell! The values do not have to be the same. (-200 for breaching this rule)

Screenshots needed:

  • League Table after 19 games
  • Goals scored screen from player squad
  • Cup Winners Cup quarter final draw screen (or similar evidence)
  • Transfers in/out screen

Entries can be sent to davetin9@gmail.com or on Twitter/X tagging @CM9798 and @CornishZak

Part 4 will involve this same save continuing from game 19 so don’t play on!

League Table

The hunt for the Surprise Shirt prize continues, as alluded to in the intro this challenge was feast or famine for a lot of people. Please note, we had to make the graphics for today at 11am on Saturday. Entries after that point will be on the table next week. Apologies to those who submitted yesterday, I think I’ve spoken to you all but these things happen. Ashley retains his spot at the top of the table with a very respectable 226 but big well done to Shales who takes the highest score of the round with 308. As ever, the top 12 get the fancy treatment:

13th downwards get the Excel screenshot snippet:

Just glancing at the list I know there are entries from at least 7 or 8 there which came in after our hastily rearranged deadline, so sorry for that. Also special apologies to Gordon who sent his about a week ago and I somehow failed to add it on. I will do better next week!

Good luck to you all and speak soon.
