The CM9798 Challenge League: Part 4

Hello! Welcome to Challenge Four of a probable six. We tried to make Challenge 3 as fun as possible after a pretty grim Challenge 2 and I don’t think we disappointed, with some huge scores coming in. Real Betis have some great players and being able to add to that only added to the excitement. We’ll round up the scores later but first, let’s get to Challenge 4 and ruin some weekends.

Depending on when you read this, we might be a bit graphically sparse for a time. Our good friend and graphics man Nick had the nerve to celebrate his birthday this weekend and so we gave him Saturday off. Happy birthday mate, you do great things for this community.

You’ve made it half way through the season with Betis but now you’ve got to see it through. There are a number of catches though…

  • Carry on from where you left off – should be immediately following game 19 in La Liga.
  • Win the league with Real Betis (+200) (or Top 4 +100, Top 6 +50)
  • Points for number of league goals scored at the end of the season (+Goals scored column)
  • Win the Cup Winners Cup (+100)
  • Win the Copa del Rey (+75 points)
  • Bank Balance on June 1st at least £20m (+/-300 points)
  • Win the World Cup with any nation (+200)

There are no restrictions on signings in or out but I would suggest you are going to have to sell some players to reach a £20m bank balance…and the transfer deadline is about two weeks away. As an added bonus, you can also win the season ending World Cup for more points. You can add yourself in anytime before the tournament starts, if you want to do the friendlies etc to get up to speed that’s fine but there’s only points if you win the trophy. You’ll need the manager name to add them in (Glenn Hoddle, Javier Clemente, Aimé Jacquet are probably the three to focus on).

Screenshots Needed:

  • Final league table
  • Fixture list showing relevant final fixture results
  • Finance page on 1.6.98
  • Manager history page of national team manager (should show appointed date and World Cup win)

League Table

Ashley retains his lead with another strong score but as ever there’s scope for big swings with the amount of points on offer. Well done to Tommy Henderson-Reay who takes the highest score of the week with an impressive 549. His Betis side plundered 82 goals in 19 games which was a good platform for a big haul. It should also be pointed out everybody who entered made the Cup Winners Cup quarter finals! No failures there. The top 12 in glorious graphical form:

And here’s the rest:

Remember we are playing for a Surprise Shirt, so you could be walking away/continue sitting comfortably with a football shirt from somewhere in the world (in your size, fit etc). Sound good? Then get your scores in!

Good luck and see you all on Challenge 5.
