Sword Quest. Part 6: Fenton | @Emsonite

It’s pre-season so let’s get some deals done.

Jim Hamilton is not good enough for Div 1. Happy to take the £3m

Likewise Sharples

Richard Gough has retired. I think this is his regen. Also picked up Steve Nicols regen, who could potentially be an upgrade in the anchor.

Marshall is no longer required. We manage to bring in a Celtic striker as part of the deal. Not sure if he’s any good.

Derek Lilley can be good in this game. Let’s see if we can get him going.

Alan McLaran has been a long term target. Keeps going on a request to move then changes his mind when i put a bid in. He’s finally though the door but apparently I cant use him til next season.

There are no games til next season anyway, douchebag.

Andy Liddell has been a good servant but time to move him on. Decent profit.

Stephen Glass should be a good signing.

Joachim Bjorklund weakens Rangers and bolsters out center half options further.

Don’t know what it is with these Scottish minnows we bring in for shooting practice. 3 mins in and they panic, going a goal down. Making all 5 subs. Weirdo’s.

It’s game time. The squad is looking strong.

This is how we line up.

First up it’s the Japanese again. Orient will be right up there at the end of the season so it’s a good early test. We just about pip them 2-1 again in a repeat scoreline of the Windscreen Final. Hogarth is MOM again..

League Cup action next. I’ve got hopes of smelting this cup this season. We’ve got a good enough team to win it. Just need a kind draw and a bit of luck. Oh and my keeper Hogarth not being injured. He’s out for a few days and lower league Rotehrham put 2 passed us. Should do them over in the second leg.

Barry Ferguson is back from a ban. And Beetlejuice bags his first hat trick of the season.

Billy McKinlay has had a poor start to the season and we’ve got plenty of options in midfield. At 30 years old he ain’t getting any better. Decided to cash in now while his stock is high.

Rotherham are dispatched.

Champ Manned against Birmingham. Boo.

Fenton! FENTON!

FENTON!!

Bang average start in the league. AI Goalkeepers are being annoying.

Sheff Utd 0 – 0 Thistle

Charlton 3 – 3 Thistle

Can’t buy a win at the moment

Or maybe I can…. Henrik Larsson is on the transfer list. Get in.

First win in a while. Just about.

Larsson is off the mark.

Fulham 1 – 1 Thistle

That was our 6th away game in a row.

We’re 5th in the league. Considering the tough run of fixtures, I’m quite happy with that.

Martin Lauchlan returns. I said we’d buy him back for half the price we sold him for (£2.7m)  and we have.

League Cup action next. Another away fixture. Second Round first leg v Palace, who are top of Div 1.

With the addition of Lauchlan who can play on the left, we’ve switched to the standard 2-3-1-2-2.

It’s all going swimmingly until our captain gets sent off a minute after taking the lead. 4-2 defeat.

Could have been worse. We’re not out yet.

3 home games next before our 2nd leg. Let’s try and get 9 points.

Gascoigne’s injury gives Glass an opportunity to start. And he responds.

Man Utd beat Crewe and Hull to the signing of Morrison. Weird.

City deservedly beat us. Can’t complain.

Our front 2 get us back on track against West Ham.

A repeat scoreline would be nice as Palace rock up for the 2nd leg. New signing Russell Anderson comes in at right wing back. Liverpool were sniffing after him so he must be good. Lauchlan is dropped. He’s been shit since we resigned him.

We dominate the game. Larrson is having an off day so Furguson comes on and Harper is moved up top.  We’re going through on away goals then Kevin strikes again to settle it once and for all.

It’s a dominant display. And a good debut from Anderson.

Think I’ll leave it here this week. Decent session.

Have a great day. Thanks for reading.
