Hello and welcome back to Doncaster for season 7. Last season was absolutely unreal. We had a horrible start to the season. We tweaked our formation and brought in a couple of new players and managed to sneak into the playoffs. We lost our top striker but his replacement, 16 year old Dion Rust, took us past Norwich at Wembley and in to the Premier League! Our squad is no where near strong enough but can we survive our first season with the big boys? Let’s find out.
August
It’s a really good start to the season. We play very well against Bradford and Middlesbrough. We ride our luck against Liverpool but they give away a penalty in the 90th minute which Youngs converts.
Here is a look at last seasons playoff hero Dion Rust. No goals yet but 3 assists in 5 is a big help.
September
We start the month with a good win against Wimbledon but that’s as good as it gets in the League. Bolton are flying at the top of the league currently. We went down to 10 men against Villa so I’m delighted with a draw against them.
CM Legend Tom Youngs is still waiting to fully take off for us this season.
October
Great month for us. 2 really good wins against Forest and Everton. We were unlucky against United but we got overwhelmed by Kiko, Giggs & Beckham. We progress in the League Cup seeing off Brentford and Gateshead, both from Division 1.
Dan Rednic is a new signing this season. I put him in after a couple of injuries and he’s hit the ground running! Everything good we did went through him.
November
We are still doing well. 2 wins and 2 losses sum up our inconsistency but we are currently 7th which is brilliant for our first season in the Prem. We were wasteful against Leeds. We had plenty of chances but Youngs and Olivero couldn’t hit a barn door!
Here is one of our Welsh boys and he’s by far the best we’ve had. Owen starts the game at Arsenal as a youngster and he’s developed nicely. He earned his first call up to the Wales team this month although didn’t get a run out for them.
December
Terrible month. No thanks to our captain Ned Zelic who got a red card against Everton and then got one in the next game against Newcastle. I changed the formation against Coventry which clearly didn’t work. We rescued the month by beating Bradford comfortably.
Disappointing from Zelic. He’d been playing really well until this point.
January
Well January is an absolute car crash! We get absolutely battered in the league and we really struggle against Division 1 Leyton Orient. The goals have all but dried up which is a huge problem, as is the amount of red cards we keep getting.
February
3 very good wins in the league especially an unexpected win against Arsenal. The loss to Ipswich was really poor. We had our keeper sent off against Derby with no keeper on the bench. They have signed Oli, once of Betis, and he tore us apart.
Derby have the makings of a very good side there.
March
This result, in fact all the results in March, sum up our first season in the Premier League. We lose against Sunderland and Nottingham Forest, who we should really be beating. We beat Villa and Man Utd, who we have no right even competing with never mind beating them!
April/May
We finish our first season in the Premier League in 11th place which I’m absolutely made up about! I thought for sure we would get relegated easily but we’ve played really well. Conceding 74 is a major problem though. So the rebuild begins at the back in the summer. See you next week.
