Greetings, good morning, good evening. Welcome to part 15 of the Multi-Club save where the fictional BEEFCO trio of Crystal Palace, Nice and Go Ahead Eagles are trying to help each up the football ladder. For Crystal Palace, progress has been serene, we’re in season 4 and they are regulars of the Champions League scene. For Nice, it’s been an eternal struggle after gaining promotion to Ligue 1. For Go Ahead, there’s signs of life at last. It’s all about bringing players through, selling them at a high price and getting a decent replacement. Andre Mainwaring looks likely to be the next cab off the rank so to speak. 46 in 54 is not a shabby return at all.
It’s actually Nice who are the next to receive an offer they quite literally can’t refuse. For once, the tribunal is good to us and almost doubles the price.
Still, £1.4m to find a good AMC to step in is not loads of money but luckily nobody wants to come anyway.
That is one of the worst possible draws.
£725k buys us Baudry Roberts. Hopefully the answer to all our problems.
He can’t play for a few weeks but I don’t think he would have stopped us conceding four at Nantes.
The boys of Go Ahead continue to hold their own.
Palace’s Champions League campaign is really struggling to get out of first gear. This is less than impressive.
As is often the way, when you just can’t find one in a game, three days later you get loads.
Look who won again!
Palace continue their all or nothing performances with an impressive win at Anfield.
This might be the worst game of football that I have ever seen on this game.
The fun might be about to stop in Holland. Mainwaring, as predicted, has been identified as the answer to whatever problem Everton have identified.
I’ll have Cadamarteri in exchange. He can play off the right which is somewhere we’ve struggled.
Finally, Palace are up and running in Europe.
Baudry Roberts has had his gin and tonics as he marks his debut with a goal. It’s very rare Nice get 5.
This is a match we should have won easily on the balance of chances but Trinita’s late free kick eventually gets it done. It’s a very satisfying feeling seeing a free kick go in direct on CM9798.
£925k richer plus a Cadamarteri. Hopefully he is half decent, though the fact he is currently on loan at Colchester would suggest not.
A tremendous start to life without Mainwaring.
Palace just can’t get away from Man Utd. A bit earlier than the final this time, we’ll see you there.
Nice are in rare form. The Icelandic regen is finding great form as a striker.
Oh HELLO. Gary Wilmot scores a last minute winner as we win at Feyenoord, who sack their manager in disgust at the result. We get to do it all again in the cup in a month, where Dick Advocaat will be in the dugout.
Palace were really struggling here, Celtic were good value for their lead and it was a bit of a basketball match. I had to throw everything at it, eventually our pressure told in the last 10 minutes to get out of jail a bit.
Still a lot to do to qualify. We go to Metz in the next Champions League game.
This is a huge blow. He’s been brilliant and we don’t really have a like for like.
The Gullit regen is also out for a few months. We have to get through November and December before that month break comes and it’ll be important that we don’t let the wheels fall off in that time.
Still, joint top of the table?! I just want to get this lot into Europe.
The Nice squad is quite settled for once…and not riddled with injuries. It’s not a squad of stars by any means but it’s functioning at present.
Probably our highest ever position. Much like GAE, getting into Europe would be great.
Palace keep on keeping on. The squad is full but there’s loads out on loan and they’re all full of potential. Lombardo, Vialli and Emmers are the only old stagers, Amunike and Gordon are the next veterans then everybody else is under 25, give or take a couple of players.
Top, ahead of Mainwaring’s Everton. That’s a good storyline brewing. BEEFCO don’t have many enemies…
That’s it for another week. Apologies it is slightly less than normal, unexpected laptop issues cost me a night or two and more parenting the rest. Next week we’ll see if Palace can get through the Champions League group and if the surprise success of Nice and GAE can continue. Have a great week, see you soon.
