Hello hello. It’s time for our annual catch up on where the current crop of Premier League managers can be found in CM9798. I’ve done this for a few years now and this is the first time without Arsene Wenger. Anyway, let’s start with his successor…
Arsenal – Unai Emery
Long before Emery was helping Arsenal win away games again he was plying his trade for Toledo in the second tier of Spanish football. His stats actually seem quite good, what he lacks in pace he makes up for in passing and set pieces. Not to mention heading, oddly. The David Silva of his day.
Emery had a fairly modest playing career but of course went on to enjoy a lot of success in his native Spain, managing Almeria, Valencia and Sevilla. He became Mr Europa League in the latter which is probably what drew Arsenal to him. Cheap shot, I know.
Hello! Welcome to another new season for the CM9798 Academy. It’s season 6 and our second in the Premier League, having admirably pulled ourselves out of the fire last season to earn another shot at the big time. We’ll be keen to avoid second season syndrome but there are changes afoot.
The good news is, it’s re-gen o’clock. For those unfamiliar, when players retire they come back as a younger version with a different name but very similar stats. Their hidden stats take some building up but you know you’ve got a good player in there who will flourish with game time. Start the generation game music please.
Up first is Tarkan Waddle, or Gazza. It’s a great name that sticks to his Geordie roots…at least in the surname
Greetings and welcome to the middle of three episodes of our latest short story. I’m investigating if Real Betis are good enough to win La Liga or if Oli, Alfonso, Jarni and co are just easy pickings for the big clubs. So far we’re doing ok – in the hunt for the top spot and safely through to the Cup Winners Cup quarters.

Welcome! The CM9798 Academy are doing me proud in the Premier League, getting off to an impressive start before slightly levelling off towards the end of last week’s episode. The adjustment to the top flight has not stopped us scoring goals but we are leakier than ever, and leaky is never a positive adjective. The table looks healthy though as we pick up in October 2001.
Well hello there. Welcome back to the CM9798 Academy where we’ve just about come down to earth after securing promotion to the Premier League. A great run of form to finish the season saw us steal the second promotion spot and save us the lottery of the playoffs, but now reality sets in. How am I going to survive in the Premier League with this set of morons plus the next batch of young freebies? Let’s hope those freebies are good…
