Hello everybody, we’re back again to catch up with my Cologne pretenders as we approach the fag end of season 4. Success has been an illusive mistress so far, but we have made it to the Pokal Cup semi-finals, so anything is possible.
In the league, we’re very much amongst the also-rans
Bonjour to you! Welcome back for the second half of season five, where we’re out of Europe, but still have both domestic cups and the league to compete for, although the latter will be a challenge with a nine-point deficit to try and overturn. Anyway, let us crack on…
As has become tradition, well, for the second year running, the blog squad bought each other random football shirts for Secret Santa. I was lucky enough to receive this beauty from King of the Rook (Andrew Chapman), a Gateshead keepers jersey.
Along with the gift, I now needed to create a blog. Gateshead are non-league on CM9798, so I moved them into Division 3 to replace Macclesfield (I think) and begin my five-season adventure. The rules and challenge are simple enough:
Challenge:
How far can you get in five seasons, starting with a team full of grey players?
Rules:
PSR, I can only spend 75% of the money I make through player sales and prize money. I’ve made a handy little spreadsheet to ensure compliance.
No using the loan trick to mitigate the big club release clause.
Hello everybody and welcome back to Germany where my Cologne team have had to become tight at the back and protect the fraud that is Oliver Kahn in goal. Here’s a quick overview of the squad as it stands
No real superstars ,are there? Bierfhoff has been our main goal threat but he’s knocking on 33 years of age now, while Purk’s goals have shrivelled up.
Welcome back to Dingwall, where season three has begun with a sense of quiet purpose. Six games in, Ross County sit top of Division One, five wins from six laying solid foundations for what we hope will be another step forward. The goals are coming, the defence looks settled, and there’s a reassuring rhythm to the early weeks that suggests this side knows what it’s about. Ayr and Airdrie will have their say, of course, but for now there’s momentum, belief, and the faint sense that three promotions in a row might not be a foolish thing to imagine.
Bonjour and welcome! You join us fresh off the back of our best season to date, as we finished fourth, and secured European football for the first time. However, a pathetic £325k prize money won’t even take the bank balance out of the red, and once again there’s no cash injection, so I’ll spend yet another summer rummaging in the bargain bin…
Welcome back for the final part of our story as we look to better the real life 97/98 performance of Celta Vigo with the same squad and no transfers. As a reminder, we are 6th and in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
Hello blog readers, it’s Tuesday and as I contemplate my impending 45th birthday, lets swing back to the year 2000, where we’re entering season 4 with Cologne.
I start pre-season with an Austrian signing to Purk up my attacking options, to add to my close season capture of Oliver Kahn on a free transfer to try and stabilise my defence.
Bonjour! and welcome. Our start to season four has been the stuff of which dreams are made, but we’re without our injured keeper for a week or two more, so let’s hope it doesn’t fast turn into a nightmare. European football surely has to be our aim from here. Let’s go…
Welcome back! You re-join us as we look to improve on Celta’s real life performance with the same squad. A reminder we are still in the Copa del Rey and sit 5th in La Liga.
