Donny On Top – Part 2 | @FMCM_FC

Hello and welcome back to Doncaster. Last season was a gut punch we didn’t recover from. We lost Totti after 4 games. Went on an incredible run of form until March where we had our defence and top scorer ripped away due to the big club release clause. We never recovered and slipped from 2nd to the playoffs and lost to Hull in the Semi Final. Over the summer we have rebuilt the defence and signed new boys up front.

I’m hoping the youth of Ritchie & Brown upfront can bring the goals back.

August

It’s a really good start to the season for us. The new defence looks solid which I’m really glad about early on. David Brown is fine form and John Ritchie is getting up to speed. Dolan has continued his great form from last season and Puttnam is back from a big injury and playing very well. The loss at the end of the month is annoying. Boston came up from the Conference and have put together a decent side led by Brian McClair.

September

Our form is a little patchy at the moment but we are still sat in the playoff places. We’ve signed a new right back as ours got injured for 6 months and a new centre mid, who is now injured for two months. Also Dan Brown is going to be sold due to his big club release clause so we are back in the market for another striker.

Game of the month is this monster result against Division 1 Wolves in the League Cup. Nice to see Tomlinson again. Losing him last season was when the wheels came off.

October

October is very inconsistent for us. We do pick up 6 wins but the draws are really damaging our promotion charge. We still sit in the playoffs but it’s very tight at the top.

Game of the Month is this humdinger of a 2nd half. It’s a tight game in the first half but all hell breaks loose in the 2nd half.

November

We play Hull 3 times in November. They are top of the table. Then knock us out of the Windscreen Shield and FA Cup. It’s also becoming apparent that our backup keepers are no where near good enough.

December/January

I got a bit carried away and played 2 months worth of games. Not that there was much to get carried away with. We barely scrape together enough wins to keep us in the playoff hunt. The Lincoln result was a one off. We went down to ten men but somehow that spurred us on to get 4 more goals.

February

Much better month for us and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that John Ritchie is back from injury. An early red card against Brighton for new boy Westwood completely derails a great month.

March

In March we have bids in place for both strikers on deadline day but astonishingly both teams making those offers can’t stump up the cash which is great news. Andrew Duncan comes in on a free transfer at the back. All that results in 16 scored and only 2 conceded. Hull are on 96 points already and have only lost once, which is incredible form! We are 2nd, level on points with Chorley and 4 points clear of the playoffs.

April/May

We do our very best to end up in the playoffs again but we manage to get the job done in our penultimate game of the season. It’s a massive relief to not end up in the playoffs again! Now we can kick on Division 2. Here is a look at the final League Table.

Hull have been absolutely monstrous this season. Their goalkeeper in particular was magnificent! Join me next time for life in Division 2 and hopefully not a relegation battle.
