I think we’re Cologne now – Part 3 : Take a Baumann | @matt_c_wills

Good morning – I won’t dwell on last weeks update – after the positive part 1, part 2 felt like a poor follow up. Anyway, here’s where we are. No European or domestic cup games to distract us – just 11 games to see if we can pick things up.

Stuttgart are behind us in the table and that’s where they’ll stay for now. May the Shwarz be with you Boris.

We win, we lose. Easy come, easy go.

Paul Koch almost kept a clean sheet against Wales – this can be the only reason I took this screenshot. He did concede to Vinnie Jones, which probably downgraded him from a 9.

We do the double on Schalke. Bierhoff has been a bright light since his signing, which is good considering Anelka and Polster have stopped turning up.

Another two against Dortmund, but we’re still leaking like a colander.

We also do the double against those 80’s pop rockers Berlin. Anelka must have been annoyed about me saying he doesn’t turn up anymore.

Oh hello, double sevens? Take that, you Bielefeld scorer!

After 14 goals in two games, only typical we draw a blank against Petr Kouba. Sorry @stefaulkner I have benched Karsten for the moment….

Better, this is better as we finish off the season.

Our penultimate league game is away to Leverkusen and despite a late scare we come away with three goals and all three points.

We finish up strongly against Duisburg. Anelka scores the fourth goal with the last kick of the season for his new team.

That convincing win means we end up finishing fourth – a whopping 17 points off Dortmund. The proof is in the figures – lots of goals scored but far too many conceded.

Down the bottom, our favourite 80’s Pop rockers obviously wrote cheques that their bodies couldn’t cash.

We started so well but in truth, I’d have taken 4th place at the start of the season. Hopefully it’s enough for a crack at Europe next season, but we’ll have to wait and see.

All the stats, all the lovely stats.

Anelka started brightly but he was eclipsed by mid-season signing Bierhoff. I’m hoping those two can form some sort of partnership next season. Felgenhauer has weighed in with some important goals and Albustin has been a great asset too. Still a few non-border people I need to offload.

In the World Cup, Germany fall to Norway in the second round, a player I don’t recognise getting the knock out punch.

Meanwhile in the Final, Big Al manages to score at both ends then fluff his penalty to give Brazil their second trophy win on penalties in a row…

End of season awards time and for all of our entertainment of the masses, it’s not enough to take any prizes, oh well, there’s always next season I guess….and that’s where I’ll leave it for another week. Next week – will we be consistent? Will there be new faces? Will we be in Europe? Will Karsten Baumann play again? Join me to find out
