The Wandering Bison – Episode 6 | @Taitanator

A tale of cigarettes, grappa, time travel and hopefully goals

Season 6 – 2002/03

As we roll on into Season 6, Dario Snr’s transfer marker wheeling and dealings are limited. A young German striker, descended from a famous diving forward and an Italian schoolboy with a little ponytail join Juventus.  Fowler and Peruzzi leave due to their limited game time.  Apart from the fact that Dario Jnr has called in sick the Juventus squad is looking strong.

1909 Problems – Part 3: Tom Tom Go

Up in Northern Italy, form club Bologna are in the headlines again for the wrong reasons. The club is doing remarkably well, considering their idiot manager has signed what the media have described as “banter players,” but the decision to sell Kennet “Big Ken” Andersson has really upset the natives. Manager Dave Black has of course played it down, but with the club right in the hunt for a Champions League place, his lax attitude to the sale of the club’s top scorer has not gone down well. The arrival of ex-Man Utd youth player Graeme Tomlinson as a replacement has not exactly set pulses racing and only time will tell if the added scrutiny on the goals scored column proves costly. The Rossoblu might never forgive and forget if their season crumbles, like this delicious pastry, from here.

Thanks AC Jimbo. Things are going well at Bologna, we’re right in the hunt for a Champions League spot but there are a huge 12 games ahead. Selling 30 year old Kennet Andersson was a gamble but one I feel I had to take. Can we muddle through and make this dream a reality?

Great Heathen Army – part 23: fullkominn þat félagi | @goatnmcl

Góðan Dag my heathen followers. Velkomin back to 871 where we are chasing a historic sextuple. Last time out we had retained both the World Club Cup and European Super Cup, managed to reach the final of the League Cup, had a Quarter Final replay in the FA Cup, in the Quarters of the Champions League and we’re sitting 3rd in the league but with a game in hand which could take us top.

Replicating Sir Alex, Bolton Style – Episode One | @KibworthBull

I grew up in the 90s/00s and being a football fan, I disliked Sir Alex Ferguson. He won everything at Man United and everyone seemed to be a fan. Now I’ve matured I appreciate that he was the greatest manager there might ever have been. Certainly in the top 5. Looking back it was pure jealousy.

The Sir Alex Ferguson challenge is something that exists in the world of Management Simulation Challenges, more popular in the series that begins with F, than C but it’s certainly something that’s possible within the confirms of C.

Sir Alex was in charge of Man United from 1986 to 2013 – a grand total of 27 years, within CM9798 you get until the end of 2025/26 – a very similar time frame.

For the record he got:

  • 13 * Premier League
  • 10 * FA Charity Shield
  • 5 * FA Cup
  • 4 * League Cup
  • 2 * Champions League
  • 1 * UEFA Cup or Cup Winners Cup
  • 1 * European Super Cup
  • 2 * World Club Cup
  • Make full use of the “Academy” – which in this version of the game means signing Schoolboys so every season there must be Schoolboys signed.
  • Break the Club’s transfer record
  • Break the World Record Transfer Fee (Rio Ferdinand/Juan Veron??)

SAF started his journey on the 6th of November and Man United was 19th at that point in time. So I need to start my journey on the same calendar date and with the club 19th in the Premier Division.

I don’t have too far from Salford to travel.

The Last Roman – Part 19: A Place At The Top Table | @FMCM_FC

Nathan has worked hard to earn a Champions League place so can Roma make the most of their opportunity?

Hello. We are in Rome so it must be Tuesday again. We finished Season 4 as twice a bridesmaid as we finished 2nd in the league behind a mightily impressive Juventus team. We also lost in the Coppa Italia final against Sampdoria. This one hurt as they got relegated so we really should have been beating them. So to season 5 with Totti at the helm.
