What’s your Beath? Part 18: The tail of the Mouse

Hello! For once, we head into the final update of the season carrying a slender advantage over one of our Old Firm rivals. Obviously not Rangers, they have built an absurd jobber beating monster squad but Celtic, despite an embarrassment of riches, are creaking. Is this finally our year? Let’s find out.

A point against Rangers is always welcome. They are still unbeaten in the league it’s really not fair.

Motherwell are bottom and after 12 minutes I can understand why. However at 2-2 and 3-3 it’s a little worrying but thankfully we keep going and take the points – they are playing with 9 by the end!

£3.6m snares me the Stoichkov regen. Yes, it’s another non-EU but he’s too good to not have.

Cup time now and with Rangers out we have a reasonable chance if we can avoid Celtic. Micker Junior sees off Livingston in the cup.

Celtic get the kind draw but ours will do.

An early rehearsal for that sees us drop points. We can’t really afford to do that.

Celtic don’t win but they should be glad of a point against these sick freaks.

Back to winning ways at Tannadice. Fotiadis is coming good recently.

Oh hello…

11 games to go and a 2 point cushion

Going to Partick Thistle used to be tough but now I’ve taken their talisman it’s a lot easier. He actually opens the scoring here and despite being down to 10 it’s one step closer

Not now Nobby

Cup time and what we couldn’t do in the league we manage rather better in the cup.

Celtic avoided! Rod Stewart doing the draw

What a nightmare in Edinburgh. They go down to 10 after 3 minutes but if anything it galvanises them and we barely manage a shot. One of those weird games where nothing goes right.

We stay in Edinburgh to play Hearts and it looks like another bad day. Heidenstrom bundles home from a late corner to earn us a point we scarcely deserve.

Advantage well and truly blown.

It’s Celtic next though and if we can just win, everything will be ok. We don’t win though, despite Rio Ferdinand’s best efforts, and Stoichdog saves us a point. They all count.

Lampard has a big club release. Who knew?

Obviously he goes. Money in the bank is welcome though after Pavlov nearly bankrupted us

Nevertheless Darren Anderton is available. He’s obviously injury prone but I’ve always found him really useful either at wingback or in his more natural position.

Just losing 1-0 to Rangers is a success.

It’s looking bleak now though.

Alloa are edged aside.

Before 10 man Berwick earn a replay. Another game is not ideal.

Oddly though Celtic are in the same boat.

Neither of us make the same mistake the second time of asking.

We deal with Motherwell much better this time. Pavlov has been a great addition.

The goal difference is boosted against Dundee Utd, hopefully that late goal won’t cost us.

It’s another edgy game against Raith but we do what we need to

Rangers do us a favour.

So we are second on goal difference but Celtic have a game in hand.

They also have the Champions League final. Raith Rovers have to do us a favour…

We have to help ourselves of course and Partick are again dispatched

Celtic beat Motherwell. Our last game is a nervy win over Hearts.

Oh HELLO. Raith park that bus and give us half a chance.

Such is the scheduling, Celtic play their last game two days after the season should have ended.

Magnus Hedman is in goal for Raith and I expect to see him getting a 9 and man of the match. He’s man of the year at least. Either way, Celtic can’t beat him in 180 minutes and we are going to the Champions League (qualifying round)

One save. Awful from Celtic

Great for us!

In the cup final we are coming off a 2 week bender and I couldn’t care less. Let Celtic play in the Cup Winners Cup. Thursday – Saturday for you lads.

Actually they have a chance of joining us in the Champions League but they blow it.

West Ham have been relegated and want me to fix them. No thank you.

That though is where we must leave the update for today. Normally I’d proceed to the awards and such but I need to carefully survey the market to find potential signings and I didn’t have time. So expect a shopping report next week as we prepare for Champions League qualifiers and maybe more. I can almost hear that sweet music. See you next week!
