Merthyr Part-X Outlet. Part 5: Sorry, not sorry Rob | @Emsonite

After a successful first season, it’s Pina Coladas on the beach courtesy of our sponsor. I say courtesy of our sponsor. He didn’t actually pay for the holiday. He took my £99 deposit and I’m paying him back over 5 years.

The holiday is going to cost £5k more than it was worth in the long run.  Think I’ve been stung. I’m just glad it wasn’t a car.

Anyway, it was only a short getaway as there’s work to do.

Close season = transfer activity. And there’s a lot to wade through.

As it stands, only Nathan Jones and Bob Taylor are wanted. Jones is worth a whopping £3m.

If I can get some exchange offers before June, there should be some good bargains on offer with contracts running down & players on offer being valued next to nothing.

First out the door is Rob Scott. I bring in Muggleton and Andrade as part of the deal.

Replicating Sir Alex, Bolton Style – Episode Twenty | @KibworthBull

We’ve all made it to the 20th episode of this meandering, misfiring, and not exactly menacing attempt to replicate what Sir Alex Ferguson did at Man United, with Bolton Wanderers.

As a recap, this is how we compare to the great man.

The closest we’ve had is an FA Cup final defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

30 for 30 – Season 25: Conquering The North | @FMCM_FC

Hello and welcome back to the 30 for 30 challenge. Last season we moved back up North to Glasgow Rangers. After a brief flirt with the bottom of the table we finally found a formation & the players to fit that formation, to march up to 2nd place. We were absolutely no where near Celtic though. Can we close the gap this season?

August

I don’t normally mention transfers because I’m that far in I have no idea who is who anymore. However I have signed Justo Castro who is the Chilavert regen as back up and Docabo-Donini who was my striker at Arsenal and won the golden boot twice. Picking him up on a free is fantastic business!

Brits Abroad – Part 2: Sick Note

Hello, hello. The below was originally posted in 2016. If you missed last week, pretend it’s new…

Welcome back! If you missed part one, you’re going to find this very odd. Long story short, I set about creating an all British team to dominate the Portugese league. I chose Benfica as the “beneficiaries” in this scenario because Graeme Souness had already laid the foundations, with Brian Deane and Scott Minto sitting waiting for me like particularly poor housewarming gifts. That’s the gist, but if you want to be totally caught up CLICK HERE for part 1.

This is where we are at the moment:

Merthyr Part-X Outlet. Part 4: Sheffield Wednesday are Stoned | @Emsonite

We’re top after 22 games.

The squad has just been weakened though with the arrival of Mick Harford. I didn’t want him.

Got no interest in the rest of my squad either at the moment so just going to rattle through some games and see what bites I get. Everyone apart from Banger & Finnan are on the transfer list.

The Goald Testament Book 1 – Part 3 | GaryGoals

As we left things last week, I was entering what felt like my late-Mourinho phase – which is not ideal in Season One. The board, cautious perhaps that the gung-ho approach on the pitch will be matched in the boardroom, are denying me the necessary fuel for my visionary plans (ie signing Chris Priest), and if we don’t stiffen up at the back, the fanbase will soon be asking legitimate questions.

For those just joining us, we’re serving up an absolute treat to the good people of Montrose by playing all out attack, all the time, and despite a few bumps along the way, we’re tucked handily into second place with 8 games left.

Dumbarton head to the Links Stadium first up in the run-in:

Brits Abroad – Part 1: Let me Explain

Hello all. I hope you’re all enjoying the summer. Back in 2016, I wrote a series for The Higher Tempo Press called Brits Abroad. HTP was founded by Chris Darwen, who has gone on to many different things and as far as I know, HTP no longer runs. I forget why. Anyway, I imagine one day that site will cease to exist and therefore I want to bring my work to the safe walls of my own house. So, if you read this in 2016, thank you first and foremost but I’d appreciate if you pretend you didn’t. Also, in 2016 I was obsessed with playing 5-3-2 for some reason so needless to say I don’t need to be told to play direct and a different formation. I still have the save, somewhere, so if you enjoy it I will resurrect it and play better formations. Enjoy…

Brits Abroad is not a late night TV show showing various upstanding members of the British public making love to a shopping trolley in Kavos, but rather I’m going to make a team entirely of players from Britain and hopefully win the Champions League and dominate world football.
