Nowhere I’d Radebe – Part 17: Flora Eyes Only | @Matt_C_Wills

Hello and happy Thursday Champman fans. We’re heading into the middle section of season six, where destiny shapes our season up and sees if we can keep on track for my African Leeds team to triumph at Europe’s top table.

The Canaries aren’t at it as we kick off this blog episode with a resounding win, even if we did ship two goals. Whilst we think we are becoming hard to beat, here’s our Graham with a quick reminder.

Sheff United serve up a quick reminder that we’re not invincible and it’s a take that from Ross Bell and the Gang.

Our penultimate champs league group game is upon us and we’re off to Albania but Adil Hoxha is the one to feel our Crepes of Wrath. Let this be your earworm – Tirana-na, tirana-na, tirana-na, the reflex-flex-flex-flex-flex-flex. I’ve gone too far this time….?

While we left it late to show our dominance in Tirana, it also came at a cost, Diao is out for 8 months and unlikely to play a part again this season. That’s a big loss for us.

Sunday Oliseh steps into that pivotal holding midfielder role and Wimbledon have no response to Freddie and co.

League Cup time, and although Man Utd are floundering in the bottom half of the table, they see us off in round 4. It’s a cup I was never destined to win.

Serge is off to Hull, cheers Maguy, you were an early trailblazer but we have better options on the wing these days.

Arsenal are doing even worse than Man Utd, one point off the bottom and we only increase the pressure, four is the score. The Quicker is back to his best.

Off to Tallinn now and we need a big win to match Man Utd to ensure we finish top of the group table. Hearts flutter as we go behind early, but then smash 5 in, until Rajala gets a late consolation.

Was it enough?

Yes, by a goal. As we have the German league running, I won’t find out our knock-out stage opponents until February, I’m certain Man Utd will be there too.

Their rivals across the city are less resilient though, and it’s another win by three clear goals. This team is feeling powerful and full of attacking intent.

Of course, I jinx it and speak too soon. Not the xmas gift we wanted for our travelling fans, as we lose the Brockman/Bell derby.

Boxing day comes and we lose the battle of the bloggers. Roy Royce is when you order Roy Race from Temu.

Two days after boxing day we start to put things right, when the chips are down, Freddie hauls you through.

With the league cup a no-no, can we regain the FA Cup? We sneak past Palace to set up a 4th round tie with third division Oxford

Freddie is on fire at the moment, Bakayoko is just a bit of a nob-head.

Not that we really need anymore strikers, but after assuming this blog would rely on his regen and him not actually retiring, I decide to give George a last hurrah with my Leeds squad.

We have £81m in the bank, so it’s not a financial gamble, I just hope it doesn’t upset moral.

It doesn’t seem to have affected moral, or Morrell for that matter. Victor Agali takes a rare run out as a chance to show George Weah what he’s up against. Ba is turning into a goalscoring wingback nicely too.

I underestimate third division Oxford and escape with a draw and a replay

Coventry used to be hard to beat, which isn’t the case anymore, even if Moldovan struck early.

I take no chances with the replay and field a strong side, but Oxford decide to have three men sent off to make things more interesting. Not sue I’ve seen that before.

Sheffield Wednesday make us work hard for a point, after UB40’s Ali Campbell gives us Food for Thought in the first minute, bu we know how the tune goes, as Choongo saves a point.

We finally learn our fate and Munich 1860 isn’t too bad a pairing, we have avoided all the big names, for now.

The other side of Sheffield tries to thwart our progress but Freddie is on hand to secure the win. Luckily Bakayoko is only injured for a few weeks, unlike last season when he was out for blooming months on end.

Tottenham do Spursy things and let us score three with no reply. Oliseh is doing quite well standing in for Diao, and the Quicker just keeps on scoring.

That’s quickly brought us to two-thirds through the season and the destiny of the title is shaping up. It looks like being a three horse race with us, Man City and the Toon. We’re outscoring all of them handsomely.

Join me next week for the final part of my African odyssey – can we do a treble, or will we fall apart at the seams?
