Hump day is Matt Wills day. Here he is with the final update of his Liverpool 89/90 save but can it end in glory?

The season is rattling to a crescendo – if you’ve been following the earlier parts of this blog I’ve reconstructed the last P.C. (Pre Covid) Liverpool team to win the league championship but updated their ages and stats to make as young as they once were on 15^th July 1989.

It’s not been easy – we’re up against the Champ Manager 97/98 Man Utd squad after all. Plus John Barnes keeps getting injured, Beardsley, Rush and Aldridge are hit and miss in front of goal and Hansen (34) and Dalglish (37) are starting to look their age.

Still, we’re chasing Utd down hard in the league, into the FA Cup Final and halfway through the EUFA Cup Semi-finals against Parma, which is where the action takes us now.

Wednesdays come round quicker than freekicks using Craig Johnston’s Predator football boots don’t they? (Whatever happened to Predator boots?)

I left you last week having played 10 league games and nestled nicely at the top of the league with a game in hand and scoring goals for fun.

Before we get back to the league action, England beat Moldova but no outings for my Liverpool Legends. Rushie is on the wrong side of a 5-1 reverse to Belgium with Wales, while Ray Houghton, Steve Staunton and Ronnie Whelan help EIRE to a narrow win over Lithuania.

Welcome back to our Premier League 92 squad and we’re halfway our league campaign, which is proving to be a bit of a struggle, so we’re looking to cup exploits to keep our new fans happy.

Last time out we cruised past Man Utd in the League Cup 4^th Round and head to St James Park for our next league match.

Hirst getting his marching orders for hobbling Barnesy, but a Shearer-less Newcastle can’t stop Durie and Limpar and that’s a cracking result.

After 9 league games, we are hovering over the relegation trapdoor and making hard work in the early rounds of the League Cup, so of course the perfect tonic is an away trip to Anfield.
