CM World Leagues: A Sao Paulo Story – part 4

Happy Monday. Rob is here with the beginning of a second season for Sao Paulo where the chairman appears to be some sort of sugar Daddy…

Life in the second division begins with the welcome boost of a cash injection to write off the £11 million debt, I’m not sure where the money comes from and I don’t really care, ask no questions, hear no lies and all that.

Cash has always burnt a hole in my pocket, having said that 49 goal hero Kosta-D is the wrong side of 30 and Molnar hasn’t had enough games to prove he can take his place. I consider this signing quite a coup for a team in the third tier and also a bit of a bargain.

It’s the final push now to the end of the season, there are 18 league games left to play and we are in the area semi final of the Auto Windscreen Shield, a trophy that the whole of Sao Paulo is hoping we can win for the first time. Red Star are our first opponents and they may be even more ill disciplined than we are. The front two of Kosta-D and Denilson are on song and we are even getting attendances over the 40,000 mark, not bad for a third division side.

Monday already? Never fear, here’s Rob Tait with part two of the Sao Paulo project to pep you up

Welcome back to this international club football experiment. At the end of the last update we (Sao Paulo) had played ten league games and were sitting top of the English International Division 3 with 28 points. I identified a need for another DMC as currently Emmers is playing there and he has no cover, so I use some of the cash from we have left to bring in a favourite player of mine.

Students of CM9798 will remember that he is a FL on the game but I couldn’t help myself when I was messing around with the editor and I changed his position, he already has great potential on the database, 191 or something.

CM World Leagues: A Sao Paulo Story – Part 1

Good morning and happy Monday! Please welcome back Rob Tait, who has added the title of 2020 CM Cup champion to his CV since he last blogged with us. He’s been a busy boy in the editor…

Welcome to an alternate reality, made possible through the editor of CM9798. I’ve always thought about doing this, however the logistics of making such a lot of changes to the database felt a little overwhelming. However with some time and a free piece of spreadsheet-ing software I set about compiling and organising the “best” (based on reputation in the editor, with a few caveats and wildcards) 172 teams on the game into the English, Spanish and Italian leagues.

The top three divisions in England, Spain and Italy have been randomly assigned to the top 58 teams. The next 66 teams have been placed in the second tier in England, Spain and Italy. This leaves the final 48 teams in the English second and third divisions. Teams who would normally play in those leagues but didn’t make the cut have been scattered to the winds and now play their football in other national leagues, which might make European competitions interesting.
