It’s the end of the 2011/12 season but before we pack our bags for Norway for Euro 2012, so much has happened. We’ve got a never before seen playoff, an old favourite back in the dugout and guess who’s got a new job? Well let’s find out.
League Cup
It wasn’t to be for Bryan Robson, there will be no pointless cup for him.
Rotchen (Batistuta junior) was banned for this and they really felt his absence. Oh well, Brian Little adds the League Cup to his cabinet.
FA Cup
Onto more important matters and Robson will fancy his chances here as well. Man Utd will always be favourite though
They’re going to have to do it all again – I’m sure Man Utd loved having to play at Anfield. Sheff Wed do get the job done and will await the winners
WHAT! Unheard of. Gordon Milne, hang your head in shame. It’s great news for Bryan Robson though
Oh wow. What a great game. The replay will be better…
Rotchen! He’s back in form and wins the cup for Sheff Wed.
Champions League
The Champions League final ended up being on the same night as the FA Cup final replay, that would make an interesting ratings war. Anyway, there were semi finals to decide first
Sevilla destroyed by Gordon Milne, meaning this is the first final in 4 years they won’t be in. The holders are out too, Monaco are back with a bang and send Juventus packing. So it’s a final that wouldn’t be out of place in 1998
Some great games about isn’t there? Pignolet wins the Champions Leageue for Gordon Milne, turncoats Townsend, Notman and Betterton also on the board. Makes me sick.
Juventus might have lost out on retaining the Champions League, but they’ve won the league despite scoring a measly 38 goals. Haven’t they!?
I’ve never seen this in 18 years of playing this but if the top 2 are level in Italy, it’s a playoff!
The reaction to this on twitter was about 75% “wtf man” and 25% “yeah that happens all the time” so there you go, some of us are still learning.
Whilst we’re in Europe, Sevilla have retained La Liga
Wonder how my other former club is getting on?
Premier Division
It seemed like it was going to be Man Utd or Sheff Wed, but their other commitments are catching up with them. Here’s a particular highlight
So it is somewhat of a surprise when Gerry gets a second wind and pulls Darlington through to win yet another Premier League. Good lad.
It makes the last day of the season meaningless, but Man Utd keep Sheff Wed out of the Champions League for the sake of it.
My Norwich side get 10th, which I’m fairly happy with on our first season back in the Premier League
Obviously the game doesn’t remember the mid 90s. Anyway, great times in East Anglia. Let’s see which clubs were less fortunate
Southampton, Cardiff & Wimbledon. Gillingham survive! Pedro’s Middlesbrough slip down the table, and Pedro himself is in bother
Surely he will retire now!?
His old manager is still on the hunt for work
Anyway, from one extreme to another, let’s see how Euro 2012 panned out
Euro 2012
With no England, there’s nothing too exciting going on. Here’s how the groups worked out
Hosts Norway made a swift exit, whilst Scotland get revenge on the Czech’s for dumping them out of World Cup 2010. France are the big losers, being edged out by Austria in a tight group.
Pick your winner from these 8!
Scotland are flying the home nations flag…and how
Good grief.
Spain and Germany meet in a re-match of the 2010 World Cup final, though Spain are now managed by David Unsworth rather than me.
It makes all the difference
A 3rd minute red card for Germany’s goalkeeper can only help Unsworth’s cause.
Scotland’s dreams are over though
So Louis van Gaal’s Italy take on David Unsworth’s Spain. Clash of the titans.
LVG is a born winner. But…think of how many puns I can make in 2016!
Greece is the word.
Here’s the awards for the season
Rotchen…I’ll never forgive you for walking out on Norwich. Even if we got £9m for you.
This jerk has retired
Joe Royle accomplished a lot and has decided to retire at the top
Oh and look who got sacked
It’s fair to say things haven’t gone well for Newcastle – this is Division 2
But, despite all of that, I think it’s time to go home and get my club back to where they belong, don’t you?
