Hello from Holland! Don’t worry, it’s not quite time for Eurovision, but we are creating our own sweet music at the height of the European game. Season 1 was a walk in the park, but now with Champions League football to contend with, can we maintain our form? How do you improve on 100 points?
Fair play to the board, they understand what I’m all about. Here’s a massive stadium
It’s dented my transfer kitty, yes, but by the time season ticket sales are in, we have a healthy amount. Now, who to buy?
He might have broken through at PSV but, as we’ll find out later in Ronaldo’s life, there’s no loyalty there. Goals are goals and that’s all that matters. It’s harsh considering the form of Litmanen and then Sibon last season, but it’s a squad game. Speaking of which, I’ve flogged Danny Blind
He’s 37 in a week so time for him to be phased out. Dublin and Curtis can hold the fort, both metaphorically and in reality. I want another midfielder too, and this is a bargain
It is, in reality, too many midfielders but as you’ll see here, we’re a bit injury prone at times
I felt like Mr Burns when he gets all the ringers in for his baseball team and something happens to them all. This was before our clash with Monaco, which we somehow won despite having to drop Ronaldo on grounds of only being able to field 3 non-EU players.
The reverse fixture was less successful, leaving us second in our Champions League group but well placed to progress
We haven’t had to face PSV in the league yet but we did play them in the Dutch Charity Shield. This might look like a good result, but look who is in goal for them…
The fact that he rated higher than Van der Sar is neither here nor there. Good old Dion though.
We have however faced Feyenoord, and passed that test with flying colours.
We are however a lot less prolific than we were last season, and I’m not sure why. Ronaldo should surely have helped matters but whilst Litmanen scored more than a goal a game last season, Ronaldo has managed 6 in 13. Every game we play the opposition goalkeeper seems to have a blinder. Here’s a summary of the keepers who have played out of their skin
Pretty annoying, but nevertheless we’ve yet to drop a point domestically
You may remember Man Utd were matching us in the English league, well that is carrying on remarkably
Just scoring a goal against Man Utd looks like a huge achievement. Having said that, they’ve managed to fend of BARCELONA to sign Keith O’Neill. Just let that sink in for a second.
Sunk in? Good. Here’s the bottom of the Prem
Lovely stuff. That just about concludes another trip to Amsterdam, but the next update will commence with us hosting PSV in a huge game. Feyenoord have sacked their manager too, so it’ll be interesting to see who they bring in. I have a theory that the match engine functions in a way that means when a team is used to how you play, the keepers just save everything. Maybe I’m looking too much into it, but we’re having 20 shots a game and scoring a couple of goals. Mabybe I’ll change the formation up, or maybe I’ll just keep rotating the entire team on a match by match basis. Either way, join me again, won’t you?
