Back on their perch – Part 5 | @RossBell1984

Time to check in on Ross and his pursuit of glory with Liverpool. He might be the real life team at this rate…

I’m back again trying to get Liverpool that elusive Premier League trophy a mere 22 years before they finally managed it.

First game this time is home to Newcastle, Shearer somehow escapes a red after elbowing Matteo in the first min, things are looking bad until Bakayoko pops in a winner with 4 mins to go. Title race still on.

Barnsley rock up to Anfield surprisingly in 16th place and looking fairly dangerous until that man Bakayoko scores 2 in 4 mins to put us in to a comfortable 2-0 ht lead Fowler then adds to more to make it an easy day at the office.

Back in UEFA cup action for the QF second leg as we travel to Romea 2-0 first leg lead should be rough of a cushion but Lazio level up in the first 20 mins and i’m nervous! But a thoroughly boring second half and we are in the semis.

We are a week before the transfer window shuts and in what i can only describe as a despicable attempt to unsettle my players Man U make imo derisory offers for (deep breath) Fowler, Matteo, Ruddock, Ince, Owen, McManaman & McAteer, in retribution i set about trying to change history by signing Dwight Yorke if for no other reason to stop them having him. We also bring in Frank Lampard for £1.3M and Richard Wright £3.7m as reinforcements.

Back to League action and Selhurst Park holds no fear we are 3-0 up at HT, We can only draw the second half 2-2 but thanks to the beauty of football that equates to a 5-2 away win and entertainment all around.

Elsewhere the fans at Wembley are treated to a barn burner of a league cup final

We get Ajax in the UEFA cup semi’s it’s going to be tricky. We fail to get that important away goal and we also fail to keep a clean sheet, a 2-0 loss is going to be tough to overcome without the now suspended Fowler and Emmers in the second leg.

Arsenal who are 3rd are next and things start badly with Page getting sent off inside the first 15 mins, thankfully Arsenal decide that Chris Wreh and Marc Overmars will make a good striker combo and after Owen scores in the first half i’m confident but Dennis Bergkamp arrives like a mega bus to break scouse hearts with a late leveller.

Just when im about to concede the league i somehow have pulled to within 2 points! Thanks West Ham.

The Merseyside derby is a game i could do without at this stage but once again Liverpool come out on top in this weirdly one-sided derby. It only finishes 2-0 but it’ll do at this stage.

What!

Too little too late in the UEFA Cup sadly.

With just the league left to play for i’ll take all the scrappy wins i can get.

With Man U stuttering we have a huge chance to create a gap at the top of the league With a game away at Leeds i feel confident because hell they were terrible in my last save with them on this site. We lose 5-3…….

And with that I’m shutting my laptop down, we need to regroup. I need to think some things through, we have the small task of a game against Man U next. Until next week I’ll leave you to look at the league table with 4 games to go and see why i need some time to think.
