Hello and welcome back to the 30 for 30 challenge. The aim is very simple, get to the end of the game where it declares all seasons have been completed. We are halfway there and currently have the hot seat at Crystal Palace. We enter Season 16 on the back of our best season to date where despite having 111 points and over 100 goals we finished 2nd in Division 1. Bring on the Premier League.

August

What an incredible start to life back in the Premier League. The team is the same one that came up with a few squad players signed for depth. 3 out 3 in the league and through in the League Cup. Even a win at Old Trafford!

We blow Leeds away in the first 25 minutes. Miletic scores 2 goals in the opening 8 minutes and Whitington adds a 3rd after 20 minutes. We should have scored more and get caught on the break towards the end but it’s a great win at home for us.

September

September see us lose finally. Everton beat us as do a high flying Bristol City. The last two games of the month see us pick up impressive wins against Newcastle and Arsenal.

Game of the month is the very first one as we batter Birmingham. Whitington and Miletic ran the Birmingham defence ragged!

October

We go unbeaten in October except getting knocked out of the League Cup against Wolves. We get a nice win against my old club Coventry.

Despite being down to 10 men for 83 minutes we still comfortably beat Southampton. Benitez grabs his first goal for the club coming off the bench.

November

We lose at Anfield but pick up good wins at home against City and Villa.

This win over Villa showed our grit. We went 1-0 down and 2-1 down but managed to get it to 2-2 at half time. Captain McCue scored with a powerful header to complete the turnaround and come away with all 3 points.

December

6 games over the festive period with 4 wins and 2 losses. The loss to Altrincham in the 87th minute was gutting. Leeds were just much better than us. We are still top with a 4 point cushion over Arsenal. Unbelievable season so far!

January

Only 2 games in the league with 1 win and 1 loss. We were really poor upfront against United without Miletic. A great win over Liverpool and a routine win for the 2nd team against Division 2 Rotherham see us setup an FA Cup 5th round tie away at Villa.

Andrades hasn’t had a look in this season but he plays well here when called upon whilst Miletic was suspended.

February

Not the best month for us. Villa knock us out of the FA Cup. We missed a penalty at a crucial time in the game. Worryingly the front 2 seem to have dried up of goals.

Our only win comes at home against Bristol City. Tiago with the opener and Longo with a rare goal.

March

That loss against Arsenal mean they have the advantage now. They are 1 point in front with a game in hand as well. We lost 2 centre backs in that game as well. Purdie for 3 months and Longo for 6 weeks.

This win means we keep pace with Arsenal. Fowler Jr grabbing a goal to put us just out of reach.

April

If we take the Villa game out this month was brilliant! We are now top of the league level on points with Arsenal with 4 games to go.

Andrades is really stepping up with Miletic being out. Him and Whitington run Liverpool ragged in this one.

May

It’s not enough in May and we have to settle for 2nd place. The injuries we had were ridiculous! All 3 defenders and the backup were out. We lost both strikers as well for a couple of games. We were crap against City and Wolves. Arsenal won all there games plus the UEFA Cup Final so you can’t argue with that.

The 8 point gap all comes in May. To be fair we had no right being in a title race in our first season back in the prem. It’s been fantastic! Highest league position for Palace and Highest average attendance. European adventures await next season and I hope you can come along for the ride!
