Hello! Back after a break with some BeefCo for your Sunday. Thanks to Andrew for his creativity in bringing us some truly unique World Cup content the last few Sunday’s. I took a small break due to life getting in the way and I didn’t want to rush through a blog or two for the sake of it, especially when interest is at an all time low from the reading public due to the actual World Cup. Anyway, Season 4 is underway and last time out, we got through the summer trading and the first month or so of the new season. Here are our three squads, none of which are complete.

NATIGOL! PSV take a beating from the GAE, obviously helped by a couple of red cards for our illustrious opponents, managed by Johan Cruyff. I think we’re going to be ok you know.

Crystal Palace begin their Champions League campaign against PSG. It’s not a classic but it’s a victorious start. It’s still ludicrous that this team are the Champions of England.

Nice actually manage to get their crap together to thrash our old nemesis Strasbourg. That’s one for the Mulhouse fans out there. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

A clean sheet for the Eagles is the true miracle. Groningen must be terrible.

This is a big result. Palace taking to the Champions League like a duck to water…or an Eagle to…a big nest?

Awful times for Nice as we fall foul to Didier Agathe. Yes, that one. Being able to sort out that defence remains my biggest task since trying to sort out the GAE defence. A very meek cup exit.

Another promising result in Holland which is 6 minutes away from being an incredible result.

Lombardo’s Elvis impression goes very wrong in training. He may never play again.

Nice move to strengthen their attacking options with this chap. I’ll never learn, all French players have incredible stats…but can he back it up?

I’ve also got a new keeper. Mayor Wimbee here will hopefully help improve our terrible defence.

Ketsbaia for £100k from Nice. It’s a cross-club deal, I have no idea if it will work out but it’s risk free.

Our terrible run of only playing top sides ends in a narrow defeat in Rotterdam.

Dear me man. I’m going to get sacked by the Beefy Board at this rate.

Thank goodness Strasbourg are rubbish or it would be a clean sweep of both teams to score no victories.

Success will need to be built from the back, a rare clean sheet acting as the bacon sandwich on the morning after a heavy night out.

Tammer! I love that man. I would love him more if he’d just sign a new contract.

This is a bittersweet win. Obviously the points and goals are welcome but Wright’s red card will mean he is a big miss in the rematches against PSG and Feyenoord.

Zamorano can get a game for once with Valencia injured. He nets the winner and it’s another clean sheet for Mayor Wimbee. Is that a corner being turned?

GAE are well on their way to having a fantastic season. The front line are working well and the defence isn’t diabolical.

Meanwhile Palace are just as reliable as ever. Rarely flashy, but very efficient.

Some old habits are remembered here. I have an idea…

Bakayoko is transferred for £6.5m from Nice to Palace. Our biggest inter-club transfer but with Lombardo wrecked and Vialli & Padovano not getting any younger, it makes sense. Except for Nice.

With Richard Wright suspended, we perish in Paris. Problems there.

Nice begin life with Bakayoko by giving a chance to Wrighty re-gen Scott Gouck, who nets a double in Monaco. An exciting final 17 minutes here but again, another result we can hopefully build on.

These boys. I’m aware I’m reporting their every game it feels like but I’m proud of what they are becoming.

Zamorano! Finally, we’re getting somewhere.

I’ve ran out of words. European push anyone?

With a good wind, we could break that top 5. Right?

The squad is abysmal, really. But it works. Tammer is in the last 7 months of his contract. He rejected a move to Nice, which I suppose I will forgive.

Meanwhile in England, Man Utd have souped up their immense defence by actually scoring goals. 8 points is a canny deficit already.

It’s tight in the Champions League too. We host Feyenoord next but Wright is banned. If my sub keeper can keep it together and we win, we’ll qualify as we should beat the Norwegians. A draw would probably do but we’d have to thrash Stromsgodset or hope Feyenoord don’t beat PSG. Permutations.

The squads is still incredibly young. Lombardo, Emmers, Padovano and Vialli are the only over 30s, Bakayoko is a nice option to add to the mix but we’ll keep trying to find the perfect replacements elsewhere.

Nice’s late run of form has helped propel us to 11th. That goals against column keeps me up at night.

Moving Bjorn to centre back and the mayor in goal have helped shore us up. We have £7.5m in the bank after the Bakayoko transfer if we can find the right players to spend it on. A commanding centre half would be ideal but at least we have more or less sorted the Non-EU problem. Solano (when fit), Valencia and Zamorano. Ndlovu first reserve but I’d adore it if he moved to Go Ahead, but he isn’t keen. None of them are.
