Here’s Nathan with the latest from Naples this fine Tuesday morning…
Morning all and welcome back to Naples where we are in are second season with Napoli and the return of Diego Maradona. We’ve been dumped out of the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup so we have a free run at the league. We are 2 points off the leaders as we start this update.

A good start to this update as we beat Bologna. Beto gets the winner after 20 minutes when he intercepts the ball in midfield, surges forward and lashes the ball into the top corner. We have so many chances to grab a second to settle it but we do everything but score. We even have a goal disallowed but 1 is enough for the win.

Another 1-0 win here and again we had chances to score more but again we can’t find the final touch. Our winner comes very early on when we win a freekick which Asanovic floats into the box and Blomberg rises highest and powers a header past Mondini. Blomberg actually had a really good game all round and fully deserves his 10/10 rating.

A really solid win here against a strong Parma team. D’Alessio gives us the lead when he overlaps Imbriani who flicks the ball on to him and he rifles it past Buffon. Diego then doubles our lead when he hits home Bellucci’s deflected shot. Bellucci then gets sent off for a second yellow card offence. In the second half we continue to dominate with 10 men and add a third when Imbriani scores from a poorly cleared corner. He wraps his foot around the ball and it flies into the far corner.

We should have won this game and Maradona is the man who should have won this game for us. He has 2 very good chances in the first half and 2 in the second but doesn’t convert any of them. Di Livio gets sent off on the stroke of half time for a horror tackle on Imbriani but we can’t make the advantage pay for us.

Our good run comes to an end against 9 man Lazio. Okon gets sent off early and on the back of that Maradona opens the scoring. Just after half time Lazio get 2 goals in 3 minutes thanks to Jugovic and Gelsi. Another 2 minutes go by and we level the scores when Beto gets free and strokes the ball calmly past Marchegiani. In the 73rd minute Gelsi grabs a second goal and that wins the game for Lazio.

It’s another disappointing 3-2 defeat for us here. It takes just 6 minutes for Chiesa to break through and slot home past Meier. We hang on a bit to make into half time 1-0 down. In the second half we spark into life and Bellucci cuts out a poor pass and runs at the defence then fires a powerful effort past Rossi. 4 minutes later Bellucci’s shot is parried straight to Cavaco who taps it home for 2-1. From then on it’s all Milan. Ambrosetti levels the scores after a brilliant passing move from Milan. In the 82nd minute Milan regain the lead when Savicevic breaks free and megs Meier for 3-2 and the victory.

Brilliant effort to end this losing run. Beto gives us the lead when he hits home Bellucci’s blocked effort. Asanovic then adds a second when he intercepts a pass in midfield and takes it all the way to the goal. Beto then adds a curling 3rd into the top corner before setting up Longo for his first and our 4th. In the second half Balleri gets one back for Sampdoria but Longo instantly gets that one back to make it 5-1. Great effort.

We are terrible in this game! In the first half Ravenna are completely dominate. If it wasn’t for Meier we would have been 5 or 6 or down within half an hour. Jozwiak gets the goal for Ravenna after some great build up play he finishes it off nicely by tucking it into the bottom corner.

Absolute nightmare this. Enrico has been brilliant since we signed him last year. 2 years is the longest injury I have ever seen.

The Maradona show finally makes an appearance this season. He grabs the first goal when he follows in Cavaco’s blocked shot. We then make a hash of clearing a corner and De Juliis swings a foot at it and smashes it past Meier. Maradona then picks the ball up and takes on 2 defenders and slips the ball across the box for Cavaco to tap home. In the second half Maradona breaks free again and his shot is blocked but the keeper spills the ball and Jardel dinks it over the fumbling keeper to make it 3-1.
That’s it for this update. As always let’s check out the league table.

Those defeats mean we slip to 3rd with Juventus taking 2nd spot. Inter are absolutely flying ahead and look pretty uncatchable at the moment. Join me next time to see if we can get anywhere near them or if we can improve on last season and finish 2nd.
