Nathan has some strong and accurate views on Tuesday, so come for them and stay for the latest from the Upside Down leagues
Tuesday is such a nothing day isn’t it. Not the start of the week but no where near the weekend. Hopefully another episode in the Upside Down world of CM9798 can brighten the day for 5 or 10 minutes. In the last update we started unbeaten back in the Premier League but Celtic finally beat us to end our League Cup run early.
Berwick are the masters of their own downfall in this one. 2 horrendous mistakes allow Bakayoko 2 of the easiest goals of his career. They then give away a penalty which Negri slots away. Buckley gets one back but Robbiati has the last laugh with a late 4th fourth for us.
A solid home win in the CWC 2nd round 1st leg. A 27 minute hattrick in the first half from Negri who was sensational as always.
Another 4-1 win in the league. We seem to be blowing teams away in the first half then sacking off the second half. Negri, Bakayoko and Laudrup grab a goal each in the 1st half. East Stirling get one back with 20 mins to go but a beauty of a pass from Laudrup gives Bakayoko an easy tap in to make it 4-1.
A 3-1 win where we score all 4 goals. Cavaco is Jonny on the spot in the first half as he taps home 2 rebounded efforts. Bakayoko scores straight from kick off in the second half to make it 3-0. Goal of the game though goes to Sorenson who powers a thunderous header past his own keeper. Still gets man of the match though to be fair to him.
The 2nd string get the job done in Moscow in front of just over 88000 fans. Johansson opens the scoring with a half volley. Karpin then gets once back but Van Vossen puts us straight back in front. Karpin’s clone then rescues a draw for Moscow at the death. We go through to the next round.
Top of the table clash as it’s 1st vs 2nd and we come out on top. The first half we have both wing backs injured in the first 20 minutes. We then take out their right winger to try an even the scores. Phil Scott then puts Clydebank in front at the start of the second half. Negri levels for us and then sets up Bakayoko to steal the win with 5 minutes left in the game. A game the CD Dons manager Deano would be proud of.
Another Negri master class. He makes it 3-0 before half time. Robbiati grabs a scrappy 4th after Dumbarton pull one back. Amoruso decides he wants to play goalkeeper and gives away a penalty which Dumbarton convert. Murdoch then puts way too much dip on his chip back to his own goalie which cannons off the bar and before the keeper can turn back around Cavaco slams the ball into the back of the net.
Celtic give everyone a laugh in the League Cup final with Peter Kaye getting Man of the Match.
Another 4-1 win. Negri and Bakayoko in the first half. Robbiati and Sorenson in the second half. Another switch off in the second half sees Walsh grab a late consolation for Queen’s Park.
A tough game this one as Albion Rovers had a real go. We are wasteful in the first half and despite dominating it’s Leonard who finishes off a quick Albion Rovers counter attack. We have to wait until the 67th minute for Laudrup to dink one over Hamilton to level the scores. Our late winner comes from a Gazza through ball and after 2 blocked efforts Laudrup slams home the winner.
1st vs 2nd and it’s 1st that come out on top. Two set pieces settle the game. Bakayoko hits a stunning, dipping free kick from 30 yards out into the top corner. A handball in the box gives us a penalty which Negri expertly dispatches.
That’s it for this update. Let’s check out the other leagues.
Rampant in the league as expected. Previous winners Clydebank only 3rd.
In Division 1 Celtic are just about holding off Hearts and Dundee.
In the Premier League Newcastle and Man Utd are duking it out. Last seasons winners Boro trying to hang in there.
In Division 1 Arsenal are steaming ahead! Sunderland, Liverpool and Everton having a right scrap for that last automatic spot. Liverpool will be desperate to avoid the playoffs after last years beating in the final off Bristol Rovers.
In Serie B Sampdoria and Venezia have a nice gap but below them it is very tight.
In Serie A Juve and AC Milan are going toe to toe with last season champions Inter hanging on in there as well.
Boro have had an amazing European adventure and are in the Champions League QF.
Man City just missing out to PSG. How ironic those two teams end up in the same group!
Boro have a QF against Dortmund. Shoutout to Anderlecht getting to the QF’s as well.
Finally Birmingham have made it to the QF of the UEFA Cup. Wins against Kaiserslautern and Galatasaray in the last two rounds seeing them through. Wouldn’t like to pick a winner out of the teams left.
So that’s it for this update. Join me next time to see if we can stay perfect in the league and tackle our CWC QF. The FA Cup will get underway as well. Until then it’s Bottom’s Up from me!!
