The Last Roman – Part 9: European Finale | @FMCM_FC

Welcome to Tuesday – here’s Nathan with the latest from Roma where there’s another chance for silverware…

Happy Tuesday guys and welcome back to Rome. In the last update we managed to climb to 4th in the table after some big wins. To start this update we have our Cup Winners Cup QF 1st Leg against Celtic.

Brilliant display here, Celtic didn’t have a sniff. Captain Totti opens the scoring with a rebounded effort. Gomez then rattles in from a corner. Roll was superb and thoroughly deserved his goal before assisting for Mahlas to get involved as well.

Dario Hubner is a proper pain in the arse! he always scores against us it seems. We get are equaliser right at the end of the 1st half thanks to a towering header from John Curtis.

Huge win in the Rome derby! The first half is a proper Derby battle with tackles and elbows flying in everywhere! In the 2nd half we get the opener and winner and it’s big bad John Curtis with his 2nd goal in 2 games to win the Derby! A mention for Marchegiani who was brilliant throughout.

An early goal is what need and Mahlas scores in the 2nd minute to settle any nerves. Totti grabs his customary and Del Vecchio come off the bench to grab a late 3rd. On to the Semi Finals!

Comfortable win in Azerbaijan as the Euro Qualifiers continue. Maldini opens the scoring with a big header from a deep hit free kick. Totti seals the win in the 64th minute.

We get destroyed by AC Milan here. Chiesa, Ba and Kluivert make it 3-0 at half time. Mahlas grabs a consolation goal inbetween both of Leonardo’s goals. Humbling result this one.

When you have a close game like this one you need a difference maker. Our man is Totti. He breaks free twice to grab two really good goals to win this one for us.

Crazy first half here sees us take a 4-2 lead into half time. Thorninger (great name!) scores in the opening minute. Gautieri equalises in minute 2 then Rapajic score in minute 3. the game settles down for a bit then Totti equalises then sets up Mahlas to make it 3-2 before grabbing another to make it 4-2. Roll grabs the only goal of the second half to make it a 5-2 win.

Another strong away win. We play well take a deserved lead from the unlikely goal scorer Cafu! 5 minutes later Mahlas scores to make it 2-0. An massively overhit back pass gives Sereni no chance to avoid an own goal. We concede late but it’s job done.

We are off to another final and our big game man Totti again who is the driving force. It’s a close game with not much going on until the 24th minute when Seaman takes out Totti in the box giving the ref no choice but to award a penalty and a red card for Seaman. Totti grabs a 2nd on the hour mark to see us through to the final. We will meet Marseille in Munich for the trophy.

An end to end game but neither team has that little bit of quality to get the winner.

We have a quick International break in between and pick up a big 3-0 win over Germany with Totti opening the scoring.

This is a terrible result. Nothing goes right for us and Salernitana pick us off superbly. Totti grabs a goal but it’s our only highlight.

A great response here from the last game. We can’t find a way through in the 1st half but Mahlas grabs 2 in 3 minutes early in the second half to give us control. Rana grabs our third and Cafu grabs a 4th late on.

Another final and another absolute dicking. We are shite until the 72nd when Conti scores a header but we are 4-0 down by half time. Another nearly moment.

We get rid of some of that frustration from Europe here. 2 goals a piece between Mahlas and Totti see off Bologna. We give away a cheap goal late on but take the win.

Fantastic win to end the season. Juventus are crowned champions before this game but still go for the win. Totti scores early to settle us down and Del Vecchio adds a second before half time. Signori pulls one back but we hang on for the win.

Let’s have a look at the final league table.

It’s a massive improvement from last season as we finish 3rd and secure European football again next season. Throw in getting to the Cup Winners Cup Final as well and it’s been a great season. Here is a look at Totti before we leave for season 3.

He finishes just shy of 30 goals in the league. His performance undoubtablly are reason for reaching the final. He was collossal in the Semi Final against Arsenal in both legs.

Hope you can join me next time as we will kick off with season 3 and start a big push for our first trophy with Totti. Enjoy the rest of the week!
