30 For 30 – Season 7: Yo-Yoing | @FMCM_FC

Hello and welcome back to the 30 for 30 challenge. Last season we managed to survive our 1st season back in the Premier League with Coventry. Can we now improve and climb the table or will it be another relegation dog fight? Let’s find out.

August

Not the greatest start. An entertaining start against Boro but 3 2-1 losses in a row is frustrating.

The highlight being this convincing 3-0 win over Ipswich. We bossed the game starting with an early goal from Gascoigne (Rocastle Jr). Tom Youngs grabs a second early in the second half and Cabellero scores our 3rd with a deflected shot.

September

We lose every single game, including against 2nd Division Chorley in the League Cup. We are bottom of the league with 4 points which is horrendous.

October

We are in complete free fall at the moment. We don’t even look like winning a game.

November

Couple of narrow losses and a draw is an improvement. This win was unexpected.

New signing Renaldo was brilliant here. Lilley scores after following in Renaldo’s blocked shot. Renaldo then hits a deep cross which finds Pistone at the back post who taps in our winner.

December & January

Another terrible couple of months. We just cannot find any kind of form at all. 2 red cards against Wolves don’t help at all.

This was a shock win. Newcastle are flying and this will come as blow for them but we aren’t complaining. Derek Lilley with the goal from a thunderous free kick.

February

We are 14 points from safety so i’m just waiting for the relegation confirmation and inevitable sacking. Had a job offer from Dumbarton in the Scottish Second Division which i briefly considered before rejecting.

March

2 wins in a month! maybe we have finally found a tactic that works for us?

We play well against West Ham with Derek Lilley coming back from suspension with 2 well taken goals.

April/May

This has been on the cards since September so I’m actually shocked we lasted until the last game of the season.

We finish 19th which is an achievement considering just how far off 19th we were. We won 5 of our last 6 games but it was way too late in the season for a come back.

So join me next time for another crack at Division 1 and hopeful an instant return to the Premier League.
