Hello and welcome back to Scotland and Motherwell. Last season we won promotion into the Premier League at the 3rd time of asking. We’ve gone from the bottom to the top. Now can we stay there and push up the table? Let’s find out.

August

Well it’s going to be a long tough season. First game in the Prem and it’s Rangers at Ibrox. We get a well deserved 1-1 draw and probably should have won. Heavy defeats against Morton and Clydebank show there is work to do. On the Transfer front we bring in an Italy Under 21 from Inter and the regens of Fowler, Beckham, Duff & Lee Hughes.

September

3 draws in September keep our heads above water. Losing to Double Treble champions Celtic was expected. Still trying to find our feet in the top division.

October

We pick up a huge 3 points against Dundee Utd who are down the bottom with us. We take a hiding from Rangers and Aberdeen and then this happens…

Crystal Palace come calling and I answer. They have just been promoted to the Premier League and are currently 1 point inside the relegation places. I won’t bother with the squad as I don’t know who anyone is!

November/December

Well this is going to be next to impossible. We lose our first 5 games only scoring 1 goal. a change of formation sees wins against Bristol City and former club Coventry.

Switching to this formation has brought 2 wins from 2.

January

6 games in January – 2 wins, 2 losses & 2 draws. We progress to the FA Cup 4th round but draw with Division 3 Wigan. We lost a key player to injury then got a red card against Villa so let’s write that off.

This was a good win with 10 men. Fereday (Beckham Jr) got sent off for the second time in 2 games. That Liverpool team are 17th which i find hard to believe. We are still bottom 3 but only 1 point from safety.

February

Feb starts really well with a 2-0 win in the FA Cup 4th round replay against Wigan and a brilliant 2-0 win against Man Utd. We then go on 4 game winless streak. Wolves are 17th so losing to them sees us slip 4 points from safety. Not sure we can make that back up the way we are playing.

This was a fantastic result and the best we’ve played so far. Miletic gave us an early lead and Purdie doubled that lead in the second half. We could have scored more but let’s not be greedy!

March

3 games in March, 1 win & 2 draws. We fight back against WBA and Newcastle are top so that’s a good draw. Leicester are 3rd so another great win for us. Still 18th, 3 points from safety.

April

Back to back wins for the first time see us creep out of the bottom 3 by 1 point with 3 games to. That includes a game in hand. It will be very difficult. Leeds are in the Champions League Final & Bristol C are in the UEFA Cup Final.

This win against 19th placed Sheff Weds was really important. Fowler jr with the opener and Purdie with a powerful header to seal the points.

May

No wins means we get relegated. That draw with Everton was the killer.

We miss out by a single point. Not scoring was our main issue in the end.

Leeds win the treble. Only 20 goals conceded is unbelievable!
