Hello and welcome back to South London for season 19 of 30. Last season we finished 2nd again in the league behind Arsenal who pipped us last time. It means this season we have another go in Europe so without further ado let’s jump in.

August

We survive losing in Belgium 2-0 by thumping Liege 3-0 at home to make it to the Champions League Group Stages. Last seasons FA Cup and Cup Winners Cup Everton beat us 2-1 but we pick up a great win at Old Trafford on the opening day. Elsewhere England sack Fernandez and poach Liverpool’s manager. Spain sack King Kenny and replace him with Keegan from Arsenal.

Our group isn’t the worst i’ve seen. We might sneak through at a push.

September

A chance to take Man Utd back to the top? I can’t ignore that.

Hardest decision of this journey. I’d made some decent signings with Palace and they were in a good place but not being able to attract the elite talent is holding us back.

Well the team is old and crap so we can write this season off as a starter. We don’t win any league games but we do beat Galatasaray home and away to progress in the UEFA Cup.

October

It’s going very badly! we are bottom of the table and showing zero signs of winning a game anytime soon!

November & December

November is a better month. We only lose once and qualify for the next round of the UEFA Cup. December is similar but we lose to Juventus on away goals in the UEFA Cup.

We do get a win at my old club Crystal Palace.

January

Not a great start to the new year. We lose against Man City in the FA Cup which goes down like a lead balloon.

A change of formation sees us pick up a win against 2nd placed Ipswich.

February

Just the 1 win in February. We seem to be doing a little better but it’s not enough. We need to start putting together a few wins in a row.

March

1 win in 4 is not good enough. even if it is against Liverpool. We are 7 points away from safety with 8 games to go.

April

Unbeaten in April which absolutely massive! Coventry where 18th and Bristol City 19th so both 6 pointers. we are 17th just 1 point above relegation with 3 games to go. Can we stay up?

May

We can’t do it. It comes down to the last game against Sheff Weds who are 18th, we are 17th, and they batter us 3-0.

Horrendous end to the season. Big rebuild to come in the summer and the challenge to the top starts now. Join me next time to see if we can come back up at the first ask.
