A Legend Returns – Part 2: Flashes of Brilliance | @FMCM_FC

Here we are back with part two of Nathan’s jaunt to Naples, where a legend is trying to wave his magic wand once again.

Hello and welcome back to Naples where Legend Diego Maradona has returned (via a time machine) to try and add to the two league titles he was instrumental in winning for Napoli last time he was here.

Not the easiest home debut for Diego and he has a very quiet game. We start slowly and allow Juventus to play and they punish us with Fonseca and Zidane scoring to make it 2-0 at half time. Bellucci plays through Esposito straight from kick off and he slots it under Peruzzi. We push for an equaliser but we have no luck. We will have easier games.

We get well and truly battered here. Just look at that Parma team!! Crippa scores after 30 seconds to set the tone. We then face an absolute barrage and hold until the half hour mark when Chiesa steams through and slots home a second. Henry then smashes home a third before half time. Buffon then takes out Maradona for a penalty which Maradona smashes over the bar! He does set up Beto but it’s a really poor performance.

DIEGO!!!! The roof comes off at San Paulo. His first comes from a deflected shot but his second is pure Diego as he leaves 2 defenders for dead before firing across Konsel into the bottom corner. In the second half He sets up Bellucci with a great through ball before netting his hattrick with 5 minutes to spare.

We crumble so easy in this one at the end. Ronaldo was sensational here for Inter. He opens the scoring after a cushioned header from Djorkaeff sends him clear. Maradona instantly replies for us and then 20 minutes later sets up Beto to make it 2-1. As the second half goes on Inter pile on the pressure and we completely fold. Ronaldo of course is the one to destroy us completing his hattrick in the last 10 minutes.

We just can’t catch a break at the moment. Bellucci hits home Esposito’s cross but the ref rules it for some unknown reason. Bellucci then gets taken out in the box and the penalty is hit home by Maradona. Just before half time Gargo gets one back for Udinese. Both teams have chances but have to settle for a draw.

We finally get a win away from home. Beto is the man of the moment hitting home the opener on the half volley and then beautifully setting up Bellucci for our 2nd to seal a vital 3 points.

Easily our best performance so far this season. New signing Meier comes into the nets and keeps a clean sheet. Crasson has a mad one scoring a goal in both halves whilst the front 3 grab a goal each. Diego runs the show again with a perfect 10 performance.

Another fantastic performance from us here. It’s a really open first half and Esposito opens the scoring after a slip at the back from Helveg allows him a free run on goal. Blomberg then grabs his first for the club with a towering header from Asanovic’s corner. In the second half Diego clips one through from Bellucci to run on to and rifle into the bottom corner before Esposito goes through again to make it 4-0.

That’s it for this update. Let’s see how the league table looks.

After a shaky start a couple of new signings seems to have steadied the ship and we’ve flown up the table after being bottom at one point. Let’s see how Diego is getting on.

Diego is absolutely flying at the moment. 9 goals and 4 assists in 10 games is ridiculous form! Long may it continue. Join me next time to see if we can continue our ascent to the top with Diego at the wheel!
