A Legend Returns – Part 13: Unlucky for some | @FMCM_FC

It’s the end of the season in Naples where Nathan and Diego have their eyes on a treble

Evening All and welcome back to Naples where we entering the final part of our 3rd season with Diego at the helm of Napoli as we he looks recapture the Serie A title like he did the first time round. We currently sit 1 point behind Juventus in the league but our first game is a small matter of Real Madrid in the Champions League QF.

What a fantastic result! We go to the Bernabeu and bring back 2 away goals and a big win. The first half is really tight with both teams only giving away 1 or 2 chances. In the second half we start to take control and a through ball from Beto finds Bellucci who fires us in front. 10 minutes later Beto doubles our lead with fine effort after beating 2 defenders. We concede in the 85th minute when Raul follows in Crespo’s saved shot to take the gloss off but it’s still a great opportunity to progress to the Semi Finals.

Absolutely no European hang over here as we smash AC Milan. It’s an early goal from the spot as Maradona is tripped as he glides through. Asanovic has to take the penalty twice but scores both times. Milan hit back straight away with Leonardo playing a low cross which Luliano of all people hits home. We push ahead though with Diego flying through and hitting a powerful shot into the corner. He wins a freekick shortly after which Asanovic swings in and D’Alessio flicks it in at the back post. In the second half Imbriani puts the game beyond any doubt playing a lovely one two and slotting it under Rossi.

We get brought back to earth with this poor result against 16th placed Bari. They open the scoring when Guerrero hits a thunderbolt from 30 yards and it flies in! Bellucci takes just six minutes to equalise and i think we will push on but then Beto overhits a back pass which flies past Meier for an own goal. It’s looking like a defeat until the 86th minute when Diego comes to the rescue and slams home the equaliser.

Naples is party central tonight and Diego is god again. European giants are brushed aside thanks to a second half Diego special. He picks the ball up deep in midfield and drives forward before lifting the ball over Contreras and into the net. Roll on Semi Finals.

Bloody Inter Milan again!!!

This is such an annoying result! 10 minutes in we take the lead when Asanovic finishes off a lovely passing move. We batter Ravenna with Bellucci and Maradona going close and Beto hitting the post. It’s the same again in the second half but of course we get caught out and Francioso hits an equaliser. We should not be drawing this game.

Another frustrating draw. This time it’s because of an outstanding goalkeeping performance from Empoli goalie Lombardi. He stops everything that we have to offer and some of Empoli’s best efforts started with a goal kick. Very impressive performance but massively frustrating for us.

Another big result in Europe puts us in command of this tie. Beto gives us the lead thanks to a long ball over the top which he hunts down and fires low past Pagliuca. In the second half Diego plays Bellucci through and slots it home for 2-0. No away goals conceded is also a massive plus.

We are running out of games in the league and draws like this are killing us off. We batter Udinese but once again we can’t score. It’s becoming a real problem in the league.

This is a much better showing from our strikers. D’ Alessio plays a ball round the back of the defence which Diego taps home from close range. Diego goes in again but his shot is blocked and Cavaco hammers home the rebound. Bellucci adds a late 3rd after some good build up play to seal all 3 points.

This game is a classic example of how much bullshit CM9798 can be. It’s honestly like we’ve never even seen a ball before as highlights from 2nd minute to 80th minute is either Inter attacking or us giving the ball away or trying to score own goals. We take the lead straight from kickoff when Maradona waltzs through and slams home the opener and crucial away goal. Vignaroli then scores in 2 in 5 minutes and before half time Djorkaeff makes it 3-1. Inter continue to batter us until the last 10 minutes when Bellucci breaks free and scores to make it 4-3 to us on aggregate. Inter reply instantly but we hang on to go through to the Champions League Final!

I don’t think i’ve ever seen such a one sided game before. Sampdoria batter us for the whole 90 minutes without giving us a sniff. Meier is the only reason we escape with a point.

It’s another draw and it also means we miss out on the title yet again as Juventus beat us to the post. We get the lead inside 2 minutes when D’Alessio flicks a header into the path of Bellucci who buries the ball nicely. It takes 2 minutes for Bacci to bundle his way though and level the scores. All roads lead to the Champions League Final now.

We end the season with a nice win in the capital against Roma. Both our goals come from set pieces. The first is a freekick which Goretti floats into the box and finds Blomberg unmarked to score with a free header. The second comes from a corner which is headed off the bar then falls to Cavaco who sweeps home our second. Pisciotta grabs a late goal for Roma but we see out the last 5 minutes to secure all 3 points. We have one game left and that is the Champions League final against Manchester United.

It’s another season without silverware. It’s close in the first half until Phil Neville (Of all People!!) hits home a deflected shot. In the second half we don’t get anywhere near United and Maurice grabs the 2nd to win the game.

Here is a look at the final league table.

We miss out by 3 points but we are well clear of Inter in 3rd place. Way too many draws in the end which needs to be improved upon. Hope you can join me next time to see if Diego can finally go one step further and win a trophy for the masses in Naples.
