Bottom’s Up – Part 12: Regain and Retain | @FMCM_FC

Factually speaking, Tuesday is the worst day of the week. You can’t argue with science but trying to arrest the slide is Nathan who is back here with the latest from Upside Down Leagues. Enjoy!

Morning all and welcome back to the upside down world. In the last update we had a massive amount of cup games which lead to us retaining the League Challenge Cup and making it to the League Cup final. We are two points behind Celtic in the Scottish 1st Division as we look for a return to the Premiership. So let’s crack on with this updates games.

First up is Raith in the league and we dominate the game. Negri scores early after some sustained pressure. We waste a lot of chances but in the 85th minute Bakayoko hits the post and Negri turns in the rebound. 3 minutes later it’s exactly same the same from Bakayoko and Robbiati this time prods home the ball. A solid 3 points.

It’s an International week but the lower leagues go on. We are lucky to be able to field a full team with a grey goalie and 2 subs. Mind you when Marco Negri is in this sort of mood it doesn’t really matter. He decimates the Brechin defence. Robbiati claiming 3 assists for him as well. The two of them were simply unplayable in this one.

Another win and another clean sheet. Johansson opens the scoring after what feels like the 50th rebound in a frantic first 15 minutes. Gibson then brings down Negri for a penalty which Bakayoko scores. Bakayoko grabs a 3rd early in the second half to kill the game off.

It’s another Cup win for us as we win the League Cup against Hearts. It’s a nervy start until the 27th minute when Bjorklund of all people opens the scoring. 2 minutes later Negri is in for our 2nd which puts us in cruise control. Slavin pops up with a header in the second half which seals our 2nd cup of the season. We are still on for 5 trophies this season.

Negri is out injured but Bakayoko steps up. He fires his first from 25 yards into the top corner. A corner comes in and causes havoc in the Forfar box, it eventually drops for Bakayoko to tap home. He has a shot blocked but Johansson fires in the rebound. Forfar get one back but Bakayoko goes straight up the other end to grab his hattrick.

Another good win in the league and another MOTM for Bakayoko. He opens the scoring after being slid through by Negri. We then give away a cheap penalty which Knott scores to level the scores. Bakayoko goes in again though after Johansson cuts inside and dinks a pass into him which he powers in from close range. Robbiati seals the win with a very late 3rd.

Goodness me we make hard work of this one. We have to wait until the 73rd minute after peppering the East Fife goal. Bakayoko scores 2 goals in the same minute, both from rebounds. Slavin then slides in at the back post to grab a 3rd in the 90th minute.

A relatively easy game turns a bit nervy towards the end. We race into a 2 goal lead thanks to Laudrup & Bakayoko before McGlinchey gets one back. Negri then scores before Thern is sent off for a second yellow. Young makes it 3-2 but Bakayoko seals it with his 2nd and our 4th of the game.

Last game of this update is a big 3 points against Old Firm rivals Celtic. Negri opens the scoring thanks to some good work from Cavaco. Cavaco then sets up Negri again for our second before Sutton gets one back to give Celtic hope. Van Vossen kills that hope though with a close range volley into the roof of the net.

That’s it for this update. Let’s check out the rest of the leagues.

We now have a 6 point cushion over Celtic and remain unbeaten so far this season in the league.

Clydebank are storming to another Scottish Prem title.

In England Newcastle and Man Utd have finally got past Bristol Rovers.

In the Prem, Boro are still looking strong. Man City doing well without the Sheik’s money as well.

In Serie B Parma and Bologna look to be stealing a march on the rest.

In Serie A Inter have gained top spot with the surprise package of Cagliari leading the hunt.

Good effort from Preston in the Champions league.

And from Hull as well.

Top marks go to Oldham though who are having a sensational run in the UEFA Cup!

That’s all for this week. Join me next time to see if we can further stretch our lead in Division 1. Until then… Bottom’s Up!
