Bottom’s Up – Part 13: On the Hunt | @FMCM_FC

Hello everyone and welcome back to the upside down world. Rangers are going full throttle to return to the Premier League from Division 3. We are currently top of Division 1, unbeaten in the league. We’ve won the League Challenge Cup and the League Cup and are on the hunt for more. Let’s get to it.

FA Cup second round and we maul non league Huntly. I love that after all these years I can still come across teams i’ve never seen or heard of before on the game. I rotate the entire squad and they produce a routine rout.

Back to league action and it’s a convincing 4-1 win over Alloa. All goals came in the first half with Cavaco opening the scoring from a rebound. Negri then volleyed in Vinni’s cross before setting up Bakayoko for our 3rd. Alloa get one back but Bakayoko grabs our 4th to kill the comeback in its tracks.

Another win in the league. Negri opens the scoring with a blistering shot from just inside the area. Bakayoko scores straight from kick off in the second half and again in the latter stages. A lapse of concentration allows Sinclair to grab a very late consolation.

Another 3-1 win with the same goal scorers for us. Bakayoko opens the scoring with a sublime volley. Negri then slips through and slots in our second. Thomson grabs a goal back though in the same minute. Bakayoko seals the win with a header late on in the second half.

Well we weren’t at our best but we manage to pick up the win. It takes until just after the hour mark for Negri to flick the ball through and Bakayoko lobs it over the keeper and into the back of the net.

We sail into the 4th round of the FA Cup thanks to our second team despite Airdrie trying to kick us off the park. Van Vossen grabs the opener in the 39th minute but Hobson equalises before half time. Fitzy grabs 2 in five minutes to settle to tie for us.

Another tough game but we come through thanks to Negri. He scores in the opening minute and again 10 minutes later to put us in control. In the second half Montrose fight back and grab a goal back through Bentil. They push but we stand firm for all 3 points.

Nice win here. Negri gets us off to a flyer again with 2 early goals. Sorensen then heads home a corner before we have a mad scramble with about 7 or 8 blocks/rebounds before Bakayoko finally smashes it home.

Negri again the main man here. He opens the scoring by toe poking home Robbiati’s curling cross. His shot is then blocked but Cavaco is on hand to tap in the rebound. Forfar then grab one back but Negri restores our two goal lead and seals the win.

Annoyingly we can only draw against 10 man East Fife which means a replay at some point. We are 2-0 up and East Fife are 1 man down come half time. The 10 men rally though in the 2nd half to draw level. We then have a stonewall penalty turned down and in the 90th minute Van Vossen misses a golden chance to win it. Frustrating to say the least.

We play East Fife again, this time in the league, and this time the first team get the job done. Robbiati opens the scoring before Laudrup and Cavaco make it 3-0 before half time. East Fife get one back before Negri makes it 4-1. East Fife push again and grab a second but we stem the flow and get the 3 points.

So after this update we are smashing it in the league. 16 point lead and just waiting for promotion confirmation. We have a cup replay to negotiate and a Cup Winners Cup QF on the horizon. Let’s see how it’s going elsewhere.

Clydebank are on course for another Premier League title.

In the English First Division Man Utd and Newcastle looking like the first two back into the Premier League. Liverpool with work to do and Bristol Rovers are still there as well.

In the Premier League Middlesbrough are running away with it.

In Serie B Parma look set for a return to the big time.

Finally in Serie A Inter Milan are destroying everyone in their path on route to the title.

Join me next time to see us clinch promotion back to the Premier League and see if we can win a domestic quadruple and the Cup Winners Cup. Until then, as always, Bottom’s Up!!
