The longest International break on record may continue but still trying to get you through is Nath, whose Roma team are showing signs of challenging. Can they keep progressing?
Hello. Welcome back to another Tuesday in Rome. In the last update we made steady progress in the league and hold leads from our first leg in the UEFA Cup and Coppa Italia. So let’s crack on and see if we can keep up the fight on 3 fronts.

We start this week in Austria to see off Rapid Vienna in the UEFA Cup. I feel sorry for Vienna here as they were the better team in large quantities but their failure to clear their lines was our gain. All 3 goals came from rebounds and sloppy clearances. The winner coming from a miscued clearance by Ivanov into his own net.

A win to add to our 1st leg win sees us through to the Coppa Italia Semi Finals. Totti with and an assist to guide us through.

Poor performance here. Cagliari are all over us in the first half and Dario Silva gives them a deserved lead at half time. We have to wait until the 79th minute for main man Totti to dig us out of trouble and rescue a point.

Bore draw this one. Both teams attackers were well off target. These draws are really killing our chances in the league.

Massive win here against leaders Inter. They still have one game in hand over us so this was vital! Vieri gives Inter the lead after 11 minutes which they hold until half time. Caceres equalises with a bullet header from a corner. With 15 minutes left Totti picks the ball up at the half way line, breezes past 3 players, then sticks it in the bottom corner!! The Stadio Olimpico erupts!

We get done here by a Goalkeeping masterclass from Turci. We throw everything at him and he stops the lot. Another disappointing draw.

The goals have dried up big time for us. Totti has a day off. Fry (Ian Rush) gives us the lead with a tidy finish but Giunti levels before half time. On the hour mark Di Vaio gives Torino the lead and that’s how it stays.

Inter get their revenge on us in the Coppa Italia Semi Final 1st leg. Vinzents gives them the lead and Ronaldo doubles it before half time. The only high point for us was the return of Gautieri after 15 months out with a damaged cruciate ligament.

Jesus we couldn’t hit a bloody barn door!! Napoli only have one decent chance and score from it. Our form at the moment is shocking!

A much needed 3 points. It wasn’t brilliant but we get the win. Totti with the winner from the spot.

Inter beat us again to knock us out of the Coppa Italia. It was always a tough ask after losing the 1st leg 2-0 at home and when Ronaldo scores his first it’s game over. Totti scored but took a knock so he was replaced at half time to spare him a long lay off.

Another scrappy win but we will take it. The only bit of quality in the game was the goal. Some slick passing is finished off with a powerful shot into the top corner from Thomas Roll.
That’s it for this update. Let’s check out the league table.

We are still in the top 4 despite a poor update. The usual suspects have risen to the top as always. Not a great update this week but we are still in the hunt. Out of the Coppa Italia but still in the UEFA Cup Quarter Finals. Join me next time to see if we can find some goals and get closer to Inter.
