The Last Roman – Part 13: Silverware At Last? | @FMCM_FC

Hello! Here as ever on this Tuesday timeslot is Nath, a stallion of a man who might be just about to break down some walls with Roma…

Hello. It’s Tuesday so that must mean we are in Rome with Totti and friends. We are coming to the end of Season 3 and so far have zero silverware. Unless you count Totti winning European Footballer of the year. We are top 4 in the league again and into the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Cup. So let’s see if we can win something this season.

A comfortable win to start this update. Totti sees his shot parried straight to Rana who brings it under control and sweeps it into the bottom corner. Mahlas gets our second with a delicious lob from just outside the area.

Fantastic away performance in Europe. The first half both teams have chances but don’t take them. In the second half Totti finally finds some space and lasers a shot past Lalmand in the Nantes goal. I would have liked a second and we probably should have got it but we will take a 1-0 win back to Rome.

Another clean sheet and another win. Totti is suspended for 2 games and Rush Jr and Mancini Jr just aren’t up to it unfortunately. Luckily Gautieri is on hand to tap home Mahlas’ blocked effort.

We just can’t seem to crack the Milan teams and Juventus. Milan are only 1 point in front of us so a win would have been huge for either team. We hang on to 0-0 at half time. Mahlas gives us the lead after some pressure in the second half but Fantini levels 3 minutes later and Effenberg scores a worldie to see us off.

Well we make hard work of it but we get through to the Semi Finals. Seb Le Paih gives Nantes the lead in the second half. We hit the post twice and crossbar once before Thomas Roll curls one in with 20 minutes to go to see us through.

No Totti due to an injury and we are crap! Falcone gives Lazio the lead after a battering in the first half. Falcone very kindly scores an own goal to level the scores up but in the 88th minute Salas bags the winner. The worst thing is they thoroughly deserve it.

Battered here by Juve. It’s 3-0 at halftime. Roll gets one back but Beppe grabs his second to make it 4-1 and easy street for Juve.

1st leg of UEFA Cup Semi Final and it’s a disappointing draw. We just can’t score at the moment, even Totti is struggling. In the second half we really turn the screw but can’t find a way through.

This is a much needed win. It’s looking glum again until the 86th minute when Roll strolls through and slots home.

Blimey it’s nice to see our strikers actually scoring goals again. Totti opens the scoring with a tidy finish from close range. Mahlas then hits home a rebounded effort. Stocker gets one back but we hold out for all 3 points.

Wow. What a rollercoaster but we are into the UEFA Cup Final. In the first 10 minutes we lose Gautieri, Take the lead, lose the lead & Charlie Miller gets sent off. Falcioni puts us 2-1 up but Dahlin equalises. 10 minutes to go Caceres gives us the lead again but Dahlin scores again with 5 minutes to go. It’s nervy but we hang on for the win!

Superb win here. It’s a bit of a battle as the yellow cards show. Mahlas is the match winner with a header from a whipped in corner.

It’s these types of fixtures we have to be winning to have any chance of winning the league title. We batter Piacenza in the first half but it’s Arcadio who opens the scoring for them. Totti levels in the second half but Murgita instantly makes it 2-1. It’s exactly the same when Mahlas equalises with Murgita grabbing the winner straight from the restart.

GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!! We have silverware!!!! Richard Wright catches Romario in the box to give away a penalty which Kevin Harper smashes down the middle to give Spurs the lead. We don’t let our heads drop though and Mahlas equalises in the 57th minute. In the 63rd minute it’s magic man Totti who steams in to score what turns out to be the winner! Absolutely over the moon!

A win at home to finish the season off nicely. Rana grabbed the opener and Totti sealed it with a goal from the spot. Let’s check out the final league table.

It’s a top 4 finish which is decent. 9 points behind AC Milan though is a mountain to climb. We need to get a lot closer.

Join me next time for an Italy special as we have a crack at Euro 2000 with Totti leading his nation hopefully to glory. Enjoy the rest of the week!
