The Last Roman – Part 18: Nearly Men Again | @FMCM_FC

Good day to you. How’s your Tuesday going? It’s about to get even better as here’s Nathan with Roma…

Happy Tuesday all. Welcome back to Rome as we look to finish off Season 4. We are currently 2nd in the league, 5 points adrift of Juventus. We also have the Coppa Italia Final to look forward to as well. So let’s dive in.

Big win away at AC Milan. To be honest they batter us for much of this game but we find their Achilles heal to be set pieces. Curtis nods home a deep freekick after 20 minutes. Mahlas, who is in for the injured Totti, volleys home our second from a corner and 4 minutes later Bogarde heads in our third from another corner.

Really flat performance from us here against our Coppa Italia opponents. Alessio Pirri finds a gap in our defence and drives through to score the only goal of the game.

Tough game here and a draw doesn’t help us. Totti returns and scores after just 2 minutes. Carparelli grabs an instant equaliser for Torino. Totti then provides a lovely assist for Favalli to knock in at the near post. Wright has a shocker when he fumbles a save straight to Jardel who taps into the empty net to grab a draw.

Not good enough at all here. We have plenty of chances and take none of them. Vasari gives Parma the lead and Stanic seals it with 20 minutes to go. Very poor.

We decide to put in our worst performance of the season in the Coppa Italia final first leg. Okocha scores and Montella immediately grabs a 2nd. Roll get us back in to it then we have a goal disallowed. De Ascentis makes it 3-1 then late on Zanini adds a 4th which takes the tie away from us.

Much better performance here. We control the game from start to finish. Gautieri opens the scoring. Pistone grabs the second before half time. Caceres powers in a header from a corner and we come full circle with Gautieri grabbing the 4th and final goal.

Totti and Salas are really under performing at the moment. A game we should win comfortably we lose thanks to a Caceres own goal.

Pirri scores after 10 minutes and that’s game over. Salas does his best on his own but it’s another Coppa Italia Final loss against a team we should be beating.

A comfortable win away from home. I drop Totti because he hasn’t been good enough recently. Salas steps up with 2 goals. Amore scores a screamer to make it a nervy finish but we hang on.

Another good win at home this time. Gautieri scores in the 13th minute but George Weah instantly replies. Roll nudges us in front in the 25th minute to give us a 2-1 lead at half time. Totti scores our 3rd and sets up Salas for our 4th to make it a an easy finish to the game.

Absolutely pathetic. Esposito must have big pockets because he has every single one of our defenders in them.

We get a draw away at Inter on the final day to seal 2nd place. Totti scores from the spot after getting taken out by Pagliuca. Wright scores an own goal trying to keep the ball out with his feet. Caceres heads us back in front but Zanetti pulls it back level with 10 minutes to go. Neither team can find a winner.

So that’s the lot. Let’s check out the final league table.

I’m happy with 2nd place. Juventus have been phenomenal this season and deserve the title. Really bad run of form to end the season for us which is disappointing. Sampdoria, who beat us in the cup final, got relegated which makes that defeat particularly difficult to swallow.

Join me next time as we get Season 5 under way. Here are Totti’s final stats for the season.

Another stellar performance despite the drop off at the end of the season.
