Another week of this you ask? Yes. And here’s Andrew with the class of ’93. Let him entertain you?…
Welcome back champs! Last time out we we’re deprived of our superstar Franz Carr and fell out of the Champions League running and scored less goals. We’re running Man Utd close though. You can catch-up here.

How long can it go on though? If we ever need to call on Sheedy and Brock, we’re f*****. We at least receive a bit of good news:

And then proceed to get obliterated in the cup. We had a stone wall penalty claim overruled (by the lino) and a goal disallowed (by the lino).

It’s like swimming through glue all of a sudden.

A pointless Champions League game sees us draw with Ararat. Thankfully that is all now over and we can concentrate on chasing down Man Utd.

We have become draw specialists.

At least Shearer won’t be troubling us.

We get back on track with a couple of tight wins. But they are not convincing. Has our squad peaked too soon?

Andy Cole is back, but we’ll take it easy and keep Carr and Quinn up top for now. Brock gets an appearance off the bench and does nothing in 17 minutes.

The draws have cost us dearly as Man United race away from us.

Chelsea can f*** off.

We stroll past Mansfield in the cup, and our reward is a decent tie with Carr’s old club.

Alan Neilson picks up a knock and he’ll be out for a month. It’s brutal knowing Kevin Scott is the backup. We scrape a draw with Villa thanks to a Petty own goal and a 1-0 against Blackburn is at least keeping us close to Man United. At least we win in the cup.

What a dream goalscoring round up. It’s Preston in the 5th round. Winnable? For most teams. Oh no.

Guess Tommy has been doing something Wright. We draw 0-0 with Palace. Can we not win a game properly!?! Fergie starts the mind games:

And we avenge our League Cup defeat to Arsenal in style.

Emanuel and his Petit anger issues help us on our way. We proceed to draw at home to Preston as Andy Cole has a shocker and we draw with Coventry despite a 90-year-old Steve Ogrizovic between the sticks. Gavin Peacock picks up a knock, which is a shame as he’s been class.

The front boys dispatch Preston on penalties. We’re really struggling here.

Bracewell and Quinn pick up 2 match bans for their accumulating disciplinary points. They will be a big miss. And the next game shows just how poor this bunch can be.

We earn a replay with Liverpool in the FA Cup, don’t ask me how.

With Lee Clark now also injured, the replay is looking tricky.

In the league fixture we lose the game and Scott Sellars despite having taken the lead.

The league is slipping away.

We’re 11 points behind Man United with 10 games to go. I’d say we have to win 10 games or it’s over. I should really reflect that it is something of a miracle that we are 2nd with this squad, but once you’ve been close you expect the best. So, do join us again next time to see if this rag-tag band can pick up the pace, or if they’re finished in the race already.
