30 For 30 – Season 9: Starting At The Bottom Of Mother’s Well | @FMCM_FC

Hello and welcome back to 30 for 30. Last season was another relegation. This time with Motherwell to the Scottish Division 3. So we start Season 9 at the bottom of Scottish Football. Let’s try and get back to the top.

August

Lots of changes to the team due to players being poached by higher clubs but we get our team sorted early and it tells. Out of the Coca Cola Cup in the 1st round is disappointing but we win 4 out of 4 in the league and win in the Challenge Cup 1st round.

September

Only 1 win in September. We lose Thompson and Hewitt, again to big club release clauses so more reinforcements come in. We’ve got a few injuries as well so it’s really disrupted at the moment.

The win coming away from home against Clyde. Both strikers on the score sheet for us.

October

Just the one win in October as well. Again we lose a player to the big club release clause and the injuries are relentless. We are currently 3rd with only the top two going up.

Our win came against another former Premiership team in St Johnstone. Walker with another man of the match performance. He’s been brilliant so far for us.

November

Much better month with 3 wins and a draw against top of the league Clydebank. We lose top striker Pirie to Millwall which is a big loss.

This is a great result against 2nd placed Albion Rovers. Gordon Pirie with an 8 minute hattrick as a leaving present.

December

Another unbeaten month here. We lose another striker so another one comes in. It’s hard work just trying to keep a settled team.

Match of the month is another win against Queens Park. Shields is the latest to score before being poached.

January

6 wins out of 7 and a draw. We are top of the pile and playing well.

This was a massive win against league leaders Clydebank. Foster with the opener and Osborn wins it from the penalty spot.

February

2 wins in Feb. We give a good account of ourselves in the FA Cup losing 3-2 against Premiership Hearts. We lose another player to the big club release clause so we are back in the free transfer market.

A huge win against one of our rivals sees us seal Promotion back to Division 2. Huge game against Clydebank to come who are 2 points behind us in 2nd place.

March

GET IN!!! Another league title to add to the Division 1 title won in season 1 with Morton. Clydebank draw their game in hand leaving them 4 points behind and needing a win at home against us…

It’s a nervy first half as the teams go into the break goalless. Foster scores early in the second half and we control the game from there with Draper grabbing a late second to seal the win and the title.

Here is the final table. Hopefully we can build on this in Division 2 and try and keep hold of our star players. Join me next time for Season 10! At the end of the season i will do a round up of the top divisions and European Winners over the past 10 seasons.
